yea let's leave the work of fixing humanity to auto-correct. lord help us all.
It's well-produced but the message is about as deep as a kiddie pool.
like honestly? you guys are being the pretentious ones
would you mind explaining that a little further
would you mind explaining that a little further
acting like his video has no truth at all, and pretending like you guys are completely better. you're belittling the shit out of him.
this guy is deeper than the ocean behind him
shitty rip off of this?
acting like his video has no truth at all, and pretending like you guys are completely better. you're belittling the shit out of him.
he's trying to imply that social media becoming popular has turned society in to something like that one part from wall-E, which personally I don't entirely agree with there's some truth to it but it's massively, massively over-exaggerated and coyoteze's post, albeit not worded as I would, kinda carries part of what's wrong with the video just because we don't like his video doesn't mean we're trying to belittle him
acting like his video has no truth at all, and pretending like you guys are completely better. you're belittling the shit out of him.
His message is shitty and techno-phobic for no real reason besides acting like some kind of edgy outsider :v:
acting like his video has no truth at all, and pretending like you guys are completely better. you're belittling the shit out of him.
If it has truth, I don't see it. This video's pretty anti-technology, and it brings up a lot of points that I (and seemingly a lot of the posters in this thread) don't seem to relate to at all, nor would I be willing to support/defend. Unless you mean the Skype bit. When I'm in a call, I love talking in nothing but abbreviations and emojis. You got me there, bub.
I've seen tons and tons of videos of people ignoring everyone who's with them and just fucking around with their phone. However, in real life I've never seen this happen. If I hang around with friends, nobody has their phone out, we focus on each other and chat around. Even if a complete stranger asks a question, the phone is quickly put into the pocket / aside and all attention is going to the actual person in front of you. I even mute my phone sometimes, it always loses to an actual person.
It's just dumb as fuck fear-baiting. Every single generation before us has been afraid of the technological advancements around them, from the steam train to the newspaper. People like this preach and moan that technology is driving us apart, but the exact opposite is happening. We as a species are more connected then EVER before. We've created a system where we can talk to millions and millions of other people across the globe, something that was once impossible. Even here on Facepunch you can argue, chat and laugh with thousands of living, breathing men and women from across the earth. Saying that just because it's behind a computer screen that it doesn't count is fucking dumb and anti-progressive. The internet, our phones and our computers are not destroying our basic needs for social interaction, and there will NEVER be a generation of human beings lacking the need for live contact. People becoming walking zombies that only stare at their phones and not the world around them? Really? We have technology that allows us to see more across the globe then ever before. People are not hypnotized by their fucking iPhones. Like the people that bitch that everyone on trains and at bus stops only stare at their phones, while a few decades ago the exact same thing happened with newspapers. People like this love to preach this shit, because it feels nice to think you're going against the herd with a "ye fuk u evil technology!" mentality but it's just idiotic. This guy, and the countless others who watch this video, use the internet and spread their beliefs across it. The internet, and our technology, has become a basic necessity akin to shelter in the modern world. You can say it's evil and bad as much as you want, but these people would never go as far to actually get rid of it from their lives, not while it's so convenient for them.
I love sites like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Tinder Honestly I love being connected with people, I love being able to discover and find new friends. I love being up to date and chatting with the people who matter most. But I honestly have to disagree with him on just about everything. Only wankers check their phone all the time with mates, that's how you know they have little to no interest in what's going on. When I'm with mates I only use my phone if I'm just quickly checking messenger or Instagram, it's out for like a minute then I put it away (data sucks my battery so I can't go on it). Also if there's one thing I hate more if how people say "It's so sad when you go on buses/trains/trams/ferries and everyone is on their phone and not socialising with those around", fuck off. When I catch the bus or train home after 6 hours of School, all I want to do is go on Spotify or Soundcloud and listen to my playlist. I don't really want to talk nor do I want to be disturbed, I just want to relax and kick back. All these videos forget that back in the day people would be doing the exact same except with newspapers or books. People always had their heads down reading and not paying attention to what's happening. What's so different when you see a bunch of people with their laptops, tablets or phones? Fucking hell
My dad learnt me TP in DOS when i was very young. Technology made me like programming, it is a hobby for me now. Maybe sometime soon, a work. I learnt english because of computer games, i didn't know what's "Play", "Options" so i had to figure it out myself, because my family didnt know english. Thanks to technology, i am what i am now. If i didn't use the computer, you wouldn't see this post here.
christ that was painful to watch.
he clearly isn't technophobic when he has a bunch of different social media accounts, he's hardly saying he wants everyone to completely stop using it some of what he's saying is silly and over the top but overall it's pretty well produced and sends a decent message i personally agree, the shit some people do and say just for likes on a website // app is ridiculous, it would be better if people put down their phones every once in a while and went outside to hang out with their friends or something, it's the fucking worst when you walk into a room and all your friends are sitting there looking down at their phones not talking to each other it's not as bad as the dude in the video is making out, no one looks at their phone like that on a date unless you're a huge asshole, BUT he does have a valid point
it would be better if people put down their phones every once in a while and went outside to hang out with their friends or something, it's the fucking worst when you walk into a room and all your friends are sitting there looking down at their phones not talking to each other
Do you have friends that don't like each other or something? I dunno, I've never faced this problem. You get together in a room with friends and the phones the last thing you think of, only really looking at it if you got a message or if you want to snapchat something dumb that happened for laughs. People still go around with their friends plenty. I don't believe it's a problem with phones and technology, some people are just more introverted then others. Decades ago, there were also people who just preferred to stay inside and read or listen to their favorite radio drama then go outside and deal with people. Humans behave the same as they always have, just the medium of our technology has changed.

And as much as everyone is disagreeing with my previous statements and giving me dumb ratings, it may not be necessarily relevant in some places, but I know especially here where I live and a lot of places in America, I've had these issues with people. Especially my ex, whom on every date or outing, she'd be constantly snapchatting or instagramming. It gets frustrating. [editline]4th October 2014[/editline] I'm the farthest thing from anti-technology. I think it has TONS of benefits in society, and I support it completely, but there are a lot of social aspects that have gone askew with the burst in social media these past couple years.
the funny thing is, is that it's allowed Americans to talk to people ALL THE WAY in asia and back, and Germans can speak with Russians, Australians with canadians if anything it's helped
I like his wordplay but disagree with the overall message tbh
