Can't wait for someone to put this on all sides of the car. Cops would love this, if it wasn't considered entrapment.
Not if you're James Bond.
I've had this idea.
I've had this idea.
A slightly more advanced version of this method is used for Bond's Aston in Die Another Day.
If I'm not mistaken; being visible in traffic is a good thing.
Invisible AND blind.
Mercedes is famous for being extremely exaggerating in their Ads/Videos.
i hope everyone realises this is a metaphor for the car's emissions and not an actual design concept.....
Hands down, that's some genius advertising right there.
I thought the point of car advertisement was to show you the car, not hide it behind stuff? Still awesome, though.
Not if you're James Bond.
Or ghost rider.
They're actually developing this exact idea for stealth aircraft. Camera on top, LEDs on bottom.
Wow this is so weirdly cool.
;35008437']They're actually developing this exact idea for stealth aircraft. Camera on top, LEDs on bottom.
wouldn't it just be cheaper to paint the bottom of planes blue?
;35008437']They're actually developing this exact idea for stealth aircraft. Camera on top, LEDs on bottom.
...not really. The sky is always blue. Cloak from radar is a hundred times more valuable than cloak from the eyes. Not to mention if you ever actually achieved it, practically all the enemy missiles are infrared/heatseeking. [editline]6th March 2012[/editline] Actually if anything, this would be useful for ground light armor. Most ground vehicles already have pretty flat sides. Attaching this to a humvee could make it extremely disorienting to enemy troops trying to fire an RPG at it. It would be useless doing it to a tank or anything bigger, mainly because tanks produce enough heat to warrant the use of IR weapons.
Wow someone needs to take this technology/Idea and do something more cool and more detailed! I would absolutly love to see more of this, it's really invisible for the eye.
COME ONE MERCEDES! KILL ME I'M HERE! COME ON DO IT NOW!
;35008437']They're actually developing this exact idea for stealth aircraft. Camera on top, LEDs on bottom.
Stealth from the human eye on aircraft isn't important anymore
This is the proper way to do advertising, its fucking awesome.
Stealth from the human eye on aircraft isn't important anymore
Exactly, it's way more important for humvees and the like. Ground combat is extremely chaotic and in the midst of that a cloaked vehicle (even if it's not perfect) could give you the edge you need. Sitting at home it's pretty easy to tell where the car is. If you're hiding in a ditch, carrying 30 pounds of weapon/ammo, out of breath, with bullets flying over you, I would not be surprised if your eyes passed right over this thing and you wouldn't even recognize it.
Pretty cool, next milestone is how to cover all angles.
