I believe Genysis failed so hard and understandably so that they straight up said there isn't going to be one.
But hey, you never know with Hollywood, all you need is another reboot and the IP is BACK IN BUSINESS BABY!
Always felt i was in the minority that enjoyed Salvation, i loved the atmosphere, music and overall tense feel that it had. The way it had like a Auschwitz-like concentration camp where humans were slaughtered for their skin was something that had me baffled.

Wouldn't Salvation be a sequel since it happens after the events of 1 and 2?

I liked the movie too. TBH I've never had an issue with any of the terminator movies.

The video game Terminator: Dawn of Fate did that and it was a pretty good game, really hard though.
The series doesn't make sense though because Skynet is supposedly extremely powerful but a ragtag resistance manages to match them and beat them, which is why they said the T-800 back in the first place.
I like to think that skynet got the drop on them with the nukes but once the humans rose up against them, all they had on their side were more more hitpoints.

Salvation is a prequel because Kyle Reese hasn't been sent back in time yet.
I enjoy Genysis for how bad and dumb it is
There's some moments of "oh they got something" that they just fuck up so monumentally hard through out the film
it's just dumb fun though wouldn't waste money in a theatre on it.

The sequel to genisys was cancelled but another new terminator sequel is already well into the planning stages.
