Hey everyone. This right here is a little project/experiment I made using Garry's Mod. This is a small short about the universe of Half-Life 2. This small 2 minute-ish video was made entirely ingame, sans the actual color correction and video editing. I've learned quite a few number of things making this. The song used in this video is called "Sprawl I" by Arcade Fire, an amazing band which I'm currently obsessed with. I really hope you all enjoy this video as much as I yanked my hair out while making it.

Oh, and I'm aware of the ingame blooper near the end. Couldn't be arsed to rerecord.
In my honest opinion, I think it could've used SOME slow mo to emphasize some parts.
If you're doing a music video style machinima you could try matching visuals and cuts with the beat.

I know, I really wanted to but by the time I had the idea for the clips I thought it should've been in, I'd already split the clips and shit. Opening up Gmod and getting to that point all over again was just like, a bummer for me. Keep in mind as soon as I finished this I crashed on my bed for a few hours

Didn't start trying to do that until later on. Another thing I wanted to do but would require me spending like another hour or two trying to make it all fit.
Decent-keep working at it man, I want to see more in the future
Also what the above user said. Editing in accordance with the music really amplifies the flow of it
Honestly what I really liked about this is that you actually had a rising action...usually with most of these they just throw random clips of HL2 together with a random song without any real climax or flow whatsoever

Thank you kind sir. I'm definitely keeping it in mind. Especially if I wanna do the sequel to the song :v:
Smashingveteran is now playing Team Fortress 2.
>:c
Wow, I really like it.
For one, the song is great, which helps a lot. While at the beginning I didn't feel too much attachment to the clips in association with the music, once the music started picking up, in sync with the apartment raids, it really came together.
I imagine you did this by using lots of static cameras on sliders or motors? It worked very well, however you managed to do it.
My only suggestion is you log out of Friends whenever you're doing a recording, though. :v:
2:32, couldn't you just crop that out? Seems really easy to fix.

Nope. Lots and lots of noclip.

Have you considered cameras and sliders/motors?
I've never done it before, but my intuition tells me that it'd give you a lot more favorable results than noclipping. :v:
Also you should have used the whole game not the first 3 maps.

I really wanted to keep it restricted to City 17 because it's not spoilerish and there's lots of sad people with some nice imagery. It's also one of the only points in the game where the metro cops don't know who you are, hence how easy it is to view them from a third person view and see what it's like for any normal people.
