Damn, Rick's lookin' old nowadays. He's gonna look exactly like the old man in about ten years.
What a cunt
Holy fuck $500,000
Pawn stars is so dumb and fake
"Let me call my expert." every. single. time.
Pawn stars is so dumb and fake
As are 99% of these shows.
To be fair I know what Pokemon cards are and I wouldn't have bought them. He works at a Pawn Store, is he going to part them out or does he really want to sell the entire collection as one piece for $300,000?
Who is really going to pay a quarter of a million dollars for a box of Pokemon cards? I would've passed.
"Let me call my expert." every. single. time.
doesn't know pokemon is but he sure does have an EXPERT for it
As are 99% of these shows.
those are dumb too
I'm reminded of when the guy came in with his 1 of 1 pink Hot Wheels VW bus and Rick undercut the guy with a 70k offer. There is no market for toys beyond the toys collectors themselves, and in this case only 1st edition mint carded Charizards and the occasional promo card is actually worth shit.

And yet I still watch it for some reason.
Also how could you avoid Pokemon Go, it's fucking everywhere.
By not having children who play it?
"Let me call my expert." every. single. time.
You're not a real Pokemon fan until you call it the Pokeverse
Ah yes, the history channel. Home to the pokeman guy.
at least the guy is getting exposure, hope he manages to sell them
What an idiot. He just turned down one of the rarest collectibles he's ever had in his store.

To be fair though after he buys it he would have to find someone who would buy it from him. So at that point he bought a card which just functions as a conversation piece which majority of the population don't care about because they think it is just some regular playing card.
pokeman
Typical reality shows
They were talking about the 1st edition Charizard and they zoomed in on the non-shadowless one lol. what a bunch of scrubs
that guy got some good advertising though. Now that Nintendo decided to disallow non-competitors to attend worlds, I'm not surprised collectors would use tactics like this to advertise. best of luck to him

you won't have a single problem finding someone to buy these. the local walk-ins are not all you're limited to. the pawn star guys have the internet too. and if they bought it from this dude on the show, they're publicizing to the entire world that they have it. selling them would be so easy.
and you can make so much more than the whole collection is worth by bundling them into groups and selling them that way. you don't have to know pokemon to know it was dumb as hell not to buy it (as a pawn store that can afford it).

The only cards that would be easy to sell are the shadowless charizards, the other stuff he'd have a hard time selling, especially since worlds is so closed off now. before you were able to just go in and sell/trade your collection, and ninty killed that off
i love this show though
I used to like Pawn Stars but shit like this turned me off from it, I prefer watching American Pickers instead.
By not having children who play it?
You'd also have to not have any friends who know what it is, social media, free time spent outside, time spent watching local news channels, time on the internet, etc.
Pokemon Go wasn't even close to confined to children.
to be fair would you pay hundreds of thousands of dollars without an expert's opinion on something?
I think he's referencing the fact that these guys conveniently know an expert on literally every thing ever brought in to the store. The guy sounded like he just browsed a few forums and websites for 30 minutes studying what he could on holo Charizards before talking to the seller anyway.
Surely the items are screened by the producers beforehand and the relevant experts are called upon for that particular episode?

They frequently bring people on the show just to show off items. This guy did not intend to sell his cards

nah nah Antique Roadshow is where it's at
OG UK edition ofc
More annoyed by his dumb attitude lol, though it's probably fake overacting for the camera or something. Still annoying to me that he could own a pawn shop and then go "I don't understand how this is worth so much money! :hurr:" Like wouldn't you know how much people pay for collectible anything when you've been doing this shit for so many years?
I dunno, that bothered me. :pudge:
