I have come across many situations on the internet where people thought that Valve "stole" the idea of the facehugger for the headcrab, not realizing that it's the result of taking inspiration from.

I love this guys videos, so chill and interesting. It's like an informative little adult swim piece.
had to do everything with the entire Alien
Actually Giger couldn't get off the hand motif for the Facehugger and his Chestburster looks like a literally naked angry turkey.
Both of the final designs are Ron Cobb and Roger Dicken, whom have never gotten enough credit for their work. (To be fair, Cobb's design for the adult Alien was really really bad, and Dicken's version of Big Chap was basically a space lizard with rounded edges.)
Alien was literally lightning in a bottle from many many people collaborating in a manner that almost never happens, and it's why it stands the test of time.
Anyone got a picture of HR Giger's art where it looks like a cock going into an asshole?
So basically any picture by him?
Man, The way kaptain said that H.R's work is able to disturb seduce is really fitting as to why i just can't look away from how creepy and disturbing it is for me. I have a weak stomach. But Giger's work is one of those kinds of work that i can't look away it's emotions.

You mean Dead Kennedys's "Frankenchrist" cover. This one.
The Xenomorph has to be the best extraterrestrial design ever conceived.
There was one thing I took issue with though: Yes the Alien was hidden and obscured for most of the film as an intentional choice, but there was necessity to it as well, as the technical limitations of the costume and special effects would make it readily apparent that the alien was just a tall guy in a suit, like in this scene:
He also did cover artwork for Blondie and ELP.
Two of my favorite album covers are the ones he created for Celtic Frost and Carcass.

Pretty sure he meant the Xeno itself not the movie as a whole. If he was talking about the legacy of the film itself then he wouldn't have focused the video entirely on Giger.
The design of the iconic final form Xeno is most certainly a credit earned by Giger.
Dunno about the talk of the xenomorph being "beautiful", stretching it as far as calling it "arousing".
IMO all of it is just terrifying, it's mannerisms are really unsettling, and everything about it's looks is just repulsive to me. In a very good way, that is, not in a "the design is bad" kind of way.
Giger is a major inspiration for me.
RIP

The way the Alien "Crab walks" towards Lambert is kindof disturbing, but then when it stares at her for a moment I can't help but think it'll say "BITCH WHATCHOO DOIN!?"
Alien is easily in my top movies of all time. Everything from costuming & set design to Giger's concepts & the soundtrack, for me it's a perfect movie. The slow pace only adds to the the overall atmosphere & tension of it.
i really don't like this dude's videos. they're barely insightful, they're just video puff pieces for people who are already fans of things - they're fandom strokes. he keeps information to a minimum and spends most of the video going 'look how good and cool this is'. it feels like a pointless watch. just something made to pander to fans of stuff.'
compare it to something insightful and interesting like every frame a painting. he might take something you already like, and give it a fresh perspective or shed light on techniques it used.
these videos are just straight up recaps of 'it's cool'. they are very boring and generic videos

Every time I watch one of these videos, I am left with the thought of "Oh, that's the end of the video?"

He always seems like he's on the verge of going into detail about why whatever he's talking about was amazing, but never actually does.
it just works

i agree that's exactly what they are and yet i enjoy it because of the mood and tone, even if i'm not a big fan of the original works themselves. i feel the tone can drive the video by itself.
also i'd say this video came closer to every frame a painting than any of his videos, it compared the alien design, storytelling, and creation to other films of similar genres and talked about a lot of interesting facts that went into creating the character and making it so close to gigers drawings.
When he says "To this day, has seen no equal...", I feel like he doesn't give enough credit to the other well known movie alien, the Predator.
[t]http://cosmofiction.o.c.f.unblog.fr/files/2014/05/predator.jpg[/t]
While both designs are perfect, I was always more afraid of the Predator than the Xeno. I find the fact that they are super intelligent race of alien hunters that are ruthless (Yet still noble in a sense) in their ways more disturbing than the more animalistic natures of the Xenos.
They also sound amazing.

You can survive quite easily against a Predator by simply not engaging in any form of combat. They only hunt worthy prey that poses a threat.
The Xenomorph is literally a killing machine made to spec. It doesn't care who/what you are, it's going to use you as part of its life cycle and no matter what form it takes your death is going to be horrific.

Which is something I do give the Xenos over the Predators. Them being animalistic killing machines that forcefully inseminate you with no mercy is one of the scariest things about them.
I just always found the Predators being intelligent hunters more intimidating. I just think being hunted for sport (code of honor besides) by something intelligent more frightening than being hunted by a creature of instinct.
I want to be inseminated by a xenomorph

No he says directly everything, which isn't true in the case of the Facehugger and Chestburster.

The fact that Giger liked the redesigns better than his own says quite a bit.
