And a kitchen basic: Keep it fucking clean
It doesn't matter if you are waiting for your soup to simmer, meat to roast, clean as you go, a clean place is comfy, not cluttered and makes you work faster and more efficiently.
Seen way too many university students who are just disgustingly dirty when cooking in their kitchen.
