you can't have a belief that is proven to be outright wrong, that contradicts the findings of thousands of experts over thousands of years and is only backed up by throwing words in there like "frequency" and "alternate dimension...type...form"
It's painful to watch and know that someone, somewhere actually believes this stuff. To be unable to think beyond "God must have done it" and to actually question the universe. And this isn't a stab at Christianity or any other religion, because the vast majority agree on proven fundamentals like the round Earth and the moon and the planets, regardless of religion. This is a stab at blatant ignorance
I feel sorry for her any for anyone who she manages to convince
HOW ABOUT NO
Remember that poll where they asked american what was the sun and most answered a planet
Yeah
Remember that poll where they asked american what was the sun and most answered a planet
Yeah
That poll was about the earth orbiting the sun, and 1 in 4 is not "most."
big ol satan
seriously how can be people so stupid ;) ...
oh wait let me look at the radical islamists ... oh wait they can be even dumber ...
That poll was about the earth orbiting the sun, and 1 in 4 is not "most."
That is still too many.

There were one that asked what is it too
Interestingly my church went over the whole multiple heaven thing today. The levels of heaven were an old Jewish concept of just calling the skies the first heaven, the solar system and space in general the second heaven, and what we think of as heaven today the third heaven. Fo real that lady cray though.
I'm willing to let a belief in a deity slide since it is unfalsifiable, but when someone willingly holds beliefs that contradict all evidence as to how reality really is with no evidence to justify those beliefs, it's pretty problematic. Willful ignorance is (almost) never a good thing.

Pretty sure 99% of Muslims believe that the moon is an object... I don't have any studies or anything though.
I knew she was going to be American.
Why is my country so stupid. I know I'm an idiot, but I keep it in my home if at all possible, or where I can remain anonymous, damn. There has to be a line somewhere, right? A line that says this side you're sane, and on this side you're insane. People believe in God? Considered sane. People believe that insects probably arrived at earth separately a billion years ago? Sane. People who believe the government is specifically out to get them? A little on the line there. People who believe their deceased parents are still walking the halls of their house? People who think they're the whore of Babylon? (Funny true story, and obviously mentally ill) Don't believe in other planets or moons existing?
Where's the line where the belief is a sign of a mental disorder?
And here I was thinking a quarter of Americans apparently still believing in geocentrism was one of the dumbest things I'd hear in a while...
Hey Amazing Atheist, your fedora is showing.
But it's in the bible!
It's funny what happends when people take 2000 year old desert stories literally. Their perception of reality must be so complicated and warped.
Kinda sad actually
Fucking stupid bitch.
She has an Internet connection, she has modern 21st century technology, she has access to all the accumulated information of the human species over the millennia, independently verifiable, which is to say, you can actually test this shit yourself and find how we came to these conclusions... and she deliberately puts blinders against all of it.
I have NO sympathy of any kind for this kind of behavior. I would have NO issue calling her a fucking idiot to her face, because she is a microcosm of EXACTLY what is wrong with the world.
Hey Amazing Atheist, your fedora is showing.
And what the fuck does THIS even mean? This "fedora" shit is rapidly becoming an excuse not to engage someone's argument on its own terms.

It's her parent's fault man don't call her a bitch. Did she harm you? jesus. Parents need to make sure that their kids need to be open minded and hers apparently did not. Society wouldn't give a fuck about her since most people care only about themselfs and she ended up here. No offense but if you have no sympathy for someone just because of his beliefs you are a disgusting human being, if she doesn't want to be open minded thats not a reason to call her a fucking bitch. We love and like people for other quialities that they have. Sure my friend is a hardcore christian and im exactly the opposite but I have a lot of sympathy for him because he helped me in my life a lot of times. Just an example for my thesis on the matter.

She's a grown-ass woman! There comes a point when you can't continue to blame upbringing for someone's behavior and decisions, and start holding people accountable for their own decisions.
Did she harm me? YES! She and her ilk harm EVERYONE with this bullshit, because beliefs inform actions, which effect real-world harm.
But let's be clear: she DOESN'T believe this. I'm not coming down on her for her "beliefs". If she believed this, her attitude wouldn't be what it is.
Oh, she PROCAIMS to believe it, and espouses it to the world because she thinks she's SUPPOSED to believe it. In her heart of hearts, she knows she's being deliberately ignorant. She refused looking through binoculars because she knew what she'd see through them. She's doing her damnedest to prop-up a false-reality, because reality itself is inconsistent with the scenario in which she lives forever, or she sees her dead parents again.
And yeah, that's sad. It's vaguely understandable. But its also selfish and unhealthy, especially if she's planning to raise anyone under this bullshit.
I didn't know what AA means
I thought this would upset alcoholics or something
he's not a good radio host that's for sure
You are right , she is ignorant but I still don't believe that she will harm anyone. I think that you are being a little extreme calling her a fucking bitch. You and her are both extreme. You sound like you want to kill her. And yes you can always blame people for influencing others. I swear to fucking christ most of us are the same with our parents and usually we don't notice it because its characteristics in our personalities which are minor. Her stand point is major but you know what I am saying. People can believe in whatever the fuck they want,if you don't like their beliefs you just give em a jostle out of your life(I hope i used the word jostle correctly , I learned it today!) and you act civilized , insead of calling her a fucking menace a bitch.

You're just judging an entire country from barely a minority of people

Living in the south he's not that far off.

What? Jesus, even in my old Sunday church when I was a kid at least tried to be as vague as possible so we wouldn't actually question anything because we would fill in the blanks ourselves.
You're just judging an entire country from barely a minority of people
Yeah you always get a conclusion from the fucking majority and americans are stupid. The majority at least. That's what the world thinks about the majority of your country and even the american said so.
I would like to note that this is a problem. These people who are wrapped up in their beliefs and ignorant of everything and anything science has to offer are also voters. They're more than likely not voting in favor of scientific advancement. Instead, they're more than likely voting people who work against important things like the environmental cause and also for things like "intelligent design" being taught in schools. (I put that in quotes because I'm not sure if that's the term people still use.)
EDIT: I just remembered that I see more people refer to "intelligent design" as creationism.
we can tell you about justification but we can't tell you about truth. there's nothing to be said about it. that is, we know how we justify beliefs, we know that the adjective 'true' is the word we apply to beliefs that we've justified. we know a belief can be true without being justified. that's about all we know about truth. and justification is relative to an audience and to a range of truth candidates; truth isn't relative to anything. just because it isn't relevant to anything means there's nothing to be said of it. truth, with a capital t, is sort of like god, and you know there's not much you can say about god
