Slapping the hell out of my low tuned acoustic guitar (Song)

Tuned my baritone acoustic even lower and recorded something  and it works out!

For those curious it's an Alvarez ABT60E baritone acoustic guitar with .017-.070 strings tuned to "AEACEA" (that's even lower than a standard 7 string guitar is tuned to by a whole step). Enjoy
I wish I could play percussive so bad. Great work!

Thank you
I learned it by myself in 4 weeks, why would you not be able to? Just spend some time with it and it comes automaticly
Well done! I really enjoyed that.
I started percussive yesterday man, after seeing this i'm gonna go practice right now. Great playing man
Great chords and I like how you used the harmonics. I love the song and your playing, well done.
Nice work. So is that an open tuning?
Great playing man, loved it!

It's pretty much open F minor but in baritone tuning. Thank you
Thank you all for the kind words!

This is why I make music, to inspire other people. Thank you very much!
I like it.
This sounds really nice. I don't know how you manage to slap the guitar and play at the same time. I'd get flustered.
Sounds great man, I love lower tunings.
What's that like. Drop and Open A tuning or something.
Someone recorded some vocals over it, I quite like it!

Sounds great. I've always wanted a baritone guitar.
This is really awesome. Reminds me a ton of Sam Westphalen

Congrats, you now have a band, if you didn't have one before.
I expect to see your first album in the following months.
Seriously though, whoever recorded those vocals is amazing. The song kind of reminds me of a Chaos Divine song, between the tone of the song and the style of vocals.

Listening to your Soundcloud now. I've only listened to White Phosphorous (at 3:37 right now), but so far I am absolutely loving it.
I totally think you should consider asking Kevin Lightless about vocals for more songs. You've got some great song-writing chops, and I love the distorted bass.

Thank you man! I actually have a band besides my solo project where I do all on my own. I did start contacting kevin lightless now and we are about to make more  Im glad that you like it! I am currently nearly done with remixing and remastering that album (white phosphorus is on it) and it sounds crazily full on the new version. All my album stuff (metal mostly and post-metal) can be found on my bandcamp free to download

Seize your opportunities and always aim for the top- you're talented, and your music is great.
I'm hoping to listen to more from you in the future.

Just make sure you keep uploading the instrumental only versions- I adore instrumental music, make it double when it comes to metal. :v:

Thank you alot for these kind words man. I do my best to seize opportunities, time and planning is most important right now so I don't let these things slip. And yes I will release instrumental versions of all my songs in the future since I like instrumental music more than music with vocals. Vocals way to often take away the possible imagination that you get by having no one say words that steer your mind into one direction. And in general, instrumental music shows alot more depth without vocals.
Started sharing your Soundcloud with my friends, and I have to say, I absolutely love Chemical. Right now, Lanthanum is my favorite song, but I'm sure that'll change as I listen to it more.
I'm a complete idiot when it comes to Soundcloud - do you have your albums available for download anywhere? I'd love to snag the album and put it on my music player as well as on my desktop playlist. If only I listened to music more, so I could fully appreciate your work.
I'm incredibly impressed at how rich and clean your audio is. I was wondering what exactly you do to make it sound so good. My guess is that you've got a pretty decent mic, but just how much post processing do you do afterwards once you have it recorded?
I've been trying to wrangle a good sound from my guitar. I have a Shure SM57 as well as a pre-amp which unfortunately goes through a 1/4" -> 1/8" cable to get into my computer. The sound is fairly muddy and flat (and mono), and I can try to salvage what I can with the equalizer in audacity, but I can never get it as crystal clear as what you have.
I know part of my problem is that I am recording next to my computer which has loud fans, but I'd still like to know how much of the quality I am losing just getting it into my computer vs. how much is done in post processing to make it sound better.

Oh hey that's very lovely man, I have my information plastered all over the net under the name "Caynug" even the first 5 pages or something on google is only me when you search for that  but to make it easier here are the free albums:
http://caynug.bandcamp.com/ <- right side is the album selection and download is "pay what you want" which allows 0.00€/$ so you can download it for free
https://www.facebook.com/Caynug <- facebook
And I bet you will love the remastered version of Chemical when I finish it! The sound is enormous and very much more punchier + defined on all instruments

Thank you
I use alot of techniques in post processing from my metal production stuff that I do. The audio is great without the post production aswell.
What I do:
-I point the microphone onto the 14th fret
-Record into audacity
-Record 15 seconds of silence
-Use the white noise remover and mark these 15 seconds then remove the noise (carefully with that) from the main track
-I put it into FL Studio and there I carefully use these tools:
Parametric EQ (to spicen up AIR freqs and less subbass plus a small dive into the 150hz zone)
Compressor (to even out the volume)
Reverb (shortest reverb I can set it too, then I widen that as much as possible to give the effect of standing in the room)
another subtle reverb (for typical hall effect)
and the tls maximizer vst for the mastering.
and I mixed in my smartphone stereo audio very subtle (you can't really notice it, it just makes it sound more real) into the video sound.
Dem calves
Nice! This might work well slowed down and played on a blues scale, as well.

Might sound dissonant tho, I like open as hell chords
also the video just reached 1k views in just a day!
I'm getting a Bastion-y vibe from this song.

Damn. How long have you played guitar for?
[editline]26th August 2014[/editline]
I'm hunting around for a new guitar to purchase. How highly would you reccomend the ABT60E for percussive stuff? (and regular fingerstyle)

I played guitar for 9 years and drums for 6, bass for 3, keyboard for 5 years. I think it all helps with it! The alvarez baritone is great for all that, the non avaible cutaway helps with slapping the sides and it's very loud and warm/deep for fingerstyle stuff. I love this guitar man.
Sounds like the mid section of Opeth's Harlequin Forest.
