It's nice seeing this slowly turn from prototype to an actual game.
bit worried that the flak cannon and rocket launcher look like the same exact model from ut3 though it looks promising. I love these dev videos.

I imagine they're just being used as placeholders for the moment. I hated UT3's aesthetics and I'm sure many others did too.

All the weapons and models are from UT3, they're placeholders so they can get the game fully functioning first before they start working on assets / getting assets from the community proper.

Not sure how to feel about the Unreal font, but that's a pretty neat wallpaper, nonetheless.

I don't mind the font. Modern while still keeping to the same principles, just compressed.
Needs to have this in it:

30-minute podcast with technical talk, features more gameplay footage

I quite like it.
Also, hope they don't use UT3 models. Probly just placeholders, but I WOULD like new ones.
The speed at which they are making this is really impressive.
Was that guy using the numpad for movement? Haven't seen that since arena shooters were popular.
Remade movies? bah.
But remade games? hell yeah!
I like their prioritisation of getting Deck 16 into the game as soon as.

The UT3 models are placeholders, they will be changing once development slowly starts to move into making art a more important part of the development process with Epic, although stuff is already starting to be done.
The community has been doing alot for the game too, and I recommend you all go check out the official forums for this game's development if you all want to find out more about whats going on:

I believe the functionality is being or was altered, its not the same as in UT99/2k4 and its not the same as it was (although probably very similar) in UT3.
I really hope they make the guns look similar to ones from 99. Simple, high-tech but some modern aesthetics to them

i don't have a source on this but i remember hearing somewhere that they're trying to move away from UT3's aesthetic of density and complexity to a more classic aesthetic to the point that some of the new models look almost exactly like the ones for 99 but in a new engine.
it's really great to see developers that really put heart into their game.
They are having the community make concepts for the weapons, although right now the most popular artist that even the devs like seems to be making weapon concepts that look very mass effect-like.
