Dissonance works really well with 40k. I want to put on Terminator armor and dance with a muy bonita senorita now.
The Warhammer megathread really dislikes the music choice, by the looks of it, but I don't mind it. :v:
As rather a big 40k fan I have to just put it out there and say I bloody well loved this trailer.
Yes it isn't fully grimdark but honestly the last trailer was fully 40k, and fully for the existing fans.
This one seems quite clearly aimed at those who perhaps aren't followers of Warhammer and are simply interested in the FPS genre as a whole.
In my opinion I'd say it tailors to that audience rather nicely and will hopefully pull in a few people who otherwise simply wouldn't look twice at 40k.
I also bet it isn't a coincidence that they released a trailer with a love song in it right before Valentine's Day.
For obvious reasons this goes over the head of the average 40k fan.

The actual video part of it was fine, but how does having a song that doesn't fit the theme, setting or game in get people who aren't really interested in W40K to be interested in it, though? The music doesn't always have to be grimdark/gothic/orchestral stuff all the time, but it should at least be a song that somewhat fits in. I'm sure there are lots of music genres that aren't the usual ones that use that would be alright for a W40K trailer, but this wasn't one of them that really made any sense.

Who needs the warmth of human companionship when I am surrounded by hundreds of dollars worth of painted figurines?

It's very reminiscent of a spaghetti western style "last stand" with a small group of close brothers-in-arms, sort of Alamo-esque
I didn't mind the music choice until the vocals came up, really, and they went away quick enough so no big deal. Otherwise, I think it fit fine. Any sort of song with a dim and sort of struggling feel to it works for 40k I think, be it orchestral, country, whatever the hell this just was, etc.
i liked the music because it reminded me of a 'last stand/showdown' situation where the terminators are sent in to kill everything or die trying.
also because i hate the overly generic edgy organ piano and hard metal every single 40k material has.
The song choice probably came from Streumon. As with everything they do, just nod and roll with it.
here's the song

the end of the trailer coupled with the music was amazing, but the song just didn't work with the earlier parts at all. not even for dissonance.
on the other hand, i'm sort of happy that we got something other than the usual ominously bombastic pseudo-gregorian latin chant orchestrals
the game itself seems neat, but i'm still waiting for gameplay
What kinda game is this gonna be? Is this a gonna be like The Red Solstice?

fps co-op
I'm still waiting for gameplay footage. I really hope they don't fuck this up.

Something similar to this. You can order your squad around in this one too, though the level of depth remains to be seen.
Alternatively, maybe a good comparison would be FPS Alien Swarm

It's going to be evolve without jetpacks and everyone has all of the assault weapon loadouts on one guy, and it's still not going to be enough dakka.

i honestly don't care at all about 40k at all but i'm hyped for this because shit more streum-on games here we go
[editline]awf[/editline]
i also thought the music was great even if it the lyrics didn't quite fit? the beat it had going with it really pumped the trailer up
Apparently there was a press event that ppl played some of it at

This fitted so good with the Exterminatus.
Little funfact, i play this song and i copy paste all quotes from the cutscene where the Exterminatus happens when i am about to destroy a planet in Planetary Annihilation :v:
I hope this game can pull off a really tense atmosphere. I don't think there are many co-op horde type games that manage to scare people, especially one where you're a supersoldier in terminator armor

Genestealers have rending claws, which make makes terminator armour about as effective as candy wrapper, and terminator armour is known for restricting the movement of it's users, but allows them to carry heavier weapons than regular space marines.
So expect to have teamplay encouraged by having users be slow lumbering but armed to the teeth bits of candy.
The people that are freaking out about the music make me absolutely sick.
The vocalist and the first half I can understand, but if you don't think desperado music+space marines is the tightest shit you can just get the hell out of my face.

I've never followed Warhammer stuff much, don't know much of anything about the lore though what I do know is interesting, but this trailer really makes me want to look in to it more for some reason.
sigh. if only the spacehulk didn't have rare or lost technology, then they could just annihilate it.
