big room house is terrible
yet it has no depth so people love it :)))
It's horribly true
"if you dont know what dynamic range is, dont worry, most producers dont seem to know either"

While i agree most big room house is virtually the same layout, that can be said about a ton of music genres.

Songs fit into certain genres and styles for a reason. Similar progression, similar BPM, similar instruments etc. is what makes a genre.

Big room and typical festival mixes are getting boring as fuck though which is why I enjoy producers like this guy

I like nearly all EDM except big room. Well friend that loves only big room and says all the songs are unique. I showed him this and his reaction was "THAT WAS SO AWESOME WHO MADE THIS".
People seem to forget there's quality in every genre, and there's always the shit tier.
Genre x is shit because song y or artist z
Man what the fuck I feel so guilty for liking that shit when it goes on in the club. I love dancing to this horrible uncreative shit :v: I even like the song in the op what the fuck guys.

I felt the same.
"Wait... but I think it sounds cool"

imo there's no real problem with liking the music, it's designed to be listenable and dance-able. It's like liking fast food, it serves its purpose even if it has 0 creativity or flare, you can still enjoy it. I'd say the video is more poking at music "producers" who make a lot of money kinda pumping out the same formula over and over again, like fast food corporations compared to gourmet chefs.
So when you say it sounds cool, that's kinda the point. To sound cool, even if it lacks substance, it's still enjoyable.

it's designed to be as unoffensive as possible, so that more people will dance to it, pop music is the same.
tbh, the same can be said for gabber, you just make something at 200+bpm with distorted kicks, and twats of their head on whatever will dance for hours

In that sense, I guess you can compare it to Call of Duty. Solid, decent, fun, but insubstantial and more of the same with every incessant iteration :v:
I couldn't explain with my limited musical vocabulary what it is about big room that fascinates me. Perhaps because it only requires the basic ingredients necessary to produce a good, rhythmic sound with little melody. The focal point being timing and steps of everything and you can really see how negative space makes an impact for much of the song as the simplistic plucking or percussion of a few notes from an instrument. I look back and can't help be reminded of Cosmic Gate who blew everyone away with fire wire over ten years ago, which was characteristic of the drops you hear in EDM today and it's a well deserved genre in my opinion. Hopefully this doesn't come across as speaking musical jargon but i kind of get pissed off when people call it cheap ass music in light of what i have to say about it. What benefit do you get sniffling at the idea of people having the ability to create music easily or dare they go as far as tool assisted. Only a __ would subject his criticisms about a song for any reason based on it's complexity and ease of creation.
fucking yes this is everything i noticed in one video

Holy fuck that is so one dimensional that even the wave forms have no variations. :v:
