back when the berenstain bullshit was popular i died a little inside whenever anyone i knew brought it up because they would without a doubt blame it on the possibility of leaking parallel universes and the inevitable "hey you never know!!!"
like holy fuck you people are in college you can't be doing this
it was wildly circulated on the internet as a half-joke and it became some sort of socially acceptable conspiracy theory for people with absolutely no contextual awareness

The idea that there might be alternate realities that we don't know about is possible though, by definition we'd never know and we have no way to disprove or prove it, but I'm being pedantic.
I think Erik got it it one though - we're misremembering tiny small details from year and years ago when we were younger and dumber. Like the berestain bears shit is a fucking kids book, of course people are going to be misremembering memories from when they were bloody 4 years old. Is it more likely that you were a dumb 4 year old that couldn't pronounce it correctly, or that the limmunati ripped you out of a alternate dimension?
Everyone I knew pronounced it stein so I assumed it was spelled stein. I guess I didn't pay attention enough to the spelling in the books.
Good evening to anyone now viewing this thread.
Statistics show that the Brian Parkyn Megathread is far more popular than this thread.

It's like when people remember Kirk saying "Beam me up Scotty" when he never said that ever, the collective memories we hold for pop-culture ain't exactly great when spread out among millions upon millions of people over generations, who barely know the thing they are remembering, but know enough to know what Scotty or beaming is.
Not only is human memory extremely falible and able to completely manufacturer false memories, but the brain also tends to take a lot of shortcuts when reading, like how you're able to easily read sentences where all the inside letters have been scrambled, for example. I know there's words I've realized I've been misreading for years, and could have sworn they were actually spelled the way I was misreading them. Even if you want to accept the idea of alternative realities and the absurdity of people arbitrarily moving between them while everything else remained, however, there would be no slight different little details. The slightest changes to history would rapidly snowball out into a very different one- not to mention Evey divergent event would have needed another even to have caused it all the way back to the beginning of time.
You'd think entire alternate realities colliding would cause changes that were a little more consequential
Onision comes from the alternate reality where fucking underage girls isn't illegal.

Wait, you mean people took it seriously?
My friends and I would always say "I want to go back to the Berenstein universe!!" whenever something stupid happened, which usually meant these days Trump did something.
I have personally never heard of a single person actually taking it seriously. :v:
Goddamn, this is useful. My coworker always tells me about this but now I actually get it.

There are already testable hypotheses for this actually, just not possible with current tech.

I came from a universe where I made a parrallel dimension hopping detection device, but then I switched to a universe where I became an internet addict instead and the government won't reimburse me for the lost millions.

In addition there is measuring hypothetical gravitational fluctuations which would be imprints from parallel universes. Considering that we just proved that gravitational waves exist by measuring two fuckin' black holes merging it's a looong way off to measure something like that.
Anywho to be more on topic, I died at the Ted Cruz nipple tweet and am very tempted to buy the Shazam shirt.
How is Eric's humor so on point across all these different topics? Like, seriously, it's impressive how much this guy can dissect shitposts about so many different topics.
