Game looks fun. That part at 7:40 was dope.
The fact that he said its a fun stealth game makes me want to actually pick it up.
Probably gonna pick this one up when it's on sale. Looks like a fun little time waster.
Looks fun, but I can't trust it'll run on my PC okay, because it's got Denuvo which is like a 50/50 chance.
This is a fallacy and I don't know where people get the idea that Denuvo causes bad perfomance, devs make shitty ports and will continue to make shitty ports long after Denuvo is gone

It's a circumstantial but usually accurate observation.
Publishers tend to buy Denuvo as an alternative to making a good PC port, because it ultimately costs less to get the DRM and a shit outsource team with 4 months to make the port.
Only played a bit of it myself at a friends house and had a surprisingly good time with it. Definitely an improvement over the first but still not enough for me to buy full price. I still totally hate the driving in it though.

There's a lot of controversy on whether Denuvo causes bad performance because well, 90% of games released with it, tend to have horrible performance no matter what your rig is.
Now it could be a shitty port, or just horribly optimized. There are some people that repor, that cracked versions of some games run smoother. It could be coincidental, and that the crack came after the patches to 'fix' the game.
In general, I just hate Denuvo. It's a horrible, horrible DRM, that no developer should waste their money on. A lot of people don't buy it just for that sole reason, some don't buy it because they can't pirate it and test it first.
I'm just glad that CDPR are doing it right, and I'll always buy their games, even if they've gone down in price because I'm a broke-ass mofo.

A lot of mis/lack of information in this post.
First of all, name those 90% of games that have bad performance that also have denuvo.
Secondly, can you provide some of these crack reports? All I've seen is that some people claim that doom runs faster cracked but that is false as they were comparing unpatched uncracked doom vs cracked patched version. As you said, it was cause crack came with the patches. Same versions are pretty much 1:1 in performance. And afaik current denuvo cracks do not remove the drm, they simply patch out the triggers. The actual system is still there so it is highly unlikely the cracks would improve performance.
Besides that I've not seen any claims with any proof.
You say Denuvo is horrible but you didn't provide any reason. Dude please.
Most of the denuvo controversy comes from pirates since they can't play games like they used to. The only legit argument against denuvo is that it works shabby in offline mode and requires re-activation.
Besides that Denuvo is 100% transparent to paying consumers.
One thing denuvo does really well though is stop piracy. It takes months to crack a denuvo game. No more 0 day releases for those games.
Gotta say it does look inviting, going to wait for a sale though.
The "Denuvo causes games to run like shit" bollocks is still a thing? It got that reputation because one of the first games to use it, Lords of the Fallen, was horribly optimised when it first came out and people assumed it was the DRM. It was actually the fact that the game had many graphics card specific features enabled by default with no way to turn them off. If you didn't have a high end nVidia card specifically you would get horrible performance.
Denuvo might cause games to run worse than if they didn't have the DRM, I doubt having an encryption layer on a game as it's running helps performance, but it doesn't cause the awful performance problems some games which use it have. Many of these games are just incredibly poorly optimised, much like games which don't run Denuvo and still run like shit.
If you're interested in getting the WD2 on sale it has a pretty good discount on GMG compared to the Steam and uplay price.
Denuvo is pretty good. We used it at work, it takes barely any effort to add to the game (like a day or so - tops).
You know, companies really only use it to deter early piracy. Apparently piracy does affect sales, so it pays off.
Fun fact. Most people I've seen complaining about Denuvo being evil and affecting performance of the game didn't even own the game (they didn't have the mouse icon on the Steam forums). I even found one of the Steam forum complainers on the comment section of a torrent site, when scouting around for cracks for fun.
Pirates really tend to be the loudest when it comes to anti-Denuvo narratives. Not only because they are salty they can't play the game for free, but because Denuvo is hurting their business. Video game piracy is a huge business in some parts of the world (the cracking group, 3DM, has its own office where crackers work - they distribute bootleg PC games in some parts of Asia).
Also, people always bring that tired "but Witcher 3 had no DRM and did good" argument into play. Who cares? It's one game, and how can you compare its statistics to a dozen other unrelated games?

Don't disregard archival concerns, when the company's servers shut down in 5 years i don't own the game anymore because denuvo wont let me activate it, even on a singleplayer game. I just have no interest in buying any games like that, i think its very fair that companies who use denuvo get the bad press as a result. You hurt modding, you hurt archival, you hurt consumer rights, you probably reduce game performance, you get bad press and less sales as a result.

Don't disregard my entire other reasons for siding with Denuvo by rating my post dumb. I'm aware of archival concerns. Maybe you missed the fact that Denuvo is for stopping early piracy? Most games using Denuvo are eventually cracked (and thus playable in 5 years). Either way, I am not against releasing patches after a couple of years to remove DRM.
Yeah it sucks that you can't mod the game, but the 'you probably reduce game performance' remark? What do you know? From personal experience, I can say that there's barely any performance impact (I've ran both the executables with and without Denuvo plenty of times). And less sales? You know what causes less sales; piracy.
I wish people would take off their rose-tinted glasses (this is not necessarily aimed at you, Matt) once in a while and stop saying that a lot of people pirate to 'test' out a game. Nobody is entitled to this. I agree that providing users a way to test out the game is good - and hey, there's a way since not too long ago; it's called the Steam refund system.
The reality is that a lot of people pirate because they feel like they should not pay for video games (or maybe they can't afford it). Maybe in much less worthwhile margins for AAA companies compared to indie companies. But you sure bet that AAA companies have researched what impact piracy has on sales; if licensing Denuvo costs less money than the number of sales missed out on (it does!), of course they're gonna use it.
It's effective, and it's here to stay.
Or, maybe, people pirate games because of abusive DRM.
Or to check if a game works on their rig. Or if it's even worth paying a prime price for.
Admittedly, Denuvo isn't anywhere as consumer-unfriendly as DRM that restricts the number of times you can install a game, or those few examples that installed rootkits on your PC.
There's just these rumors about Denuvo making games perform worse, and wrecking SSD's.

These rumors have been proven false multiple times.
As for checking to see if the game works; there's minimum specs listed everywhere. Buy the game - if it's not good enough (crap optimization, lying devs, it's plain shit), refund it.
There, no need to pirate.
Honestly while i have no issues with the denuvo DRM id rather see the dev put the money towards you know the game instead of some annoying DRM that will eventually get cracked, and for the record not everyone pirates the game just for the sake of doing so, with the massive amount of shody ports, bad optimization and worse its more than fair to give the game a try before shelling 60 bucks for it ( not saying i pirate things tho :v: )
For the record the i pre-ordered quantum break and what did i find? a MASSIVE stutter-fest that barely worked even though i was miles ahead the recommended system requiriments, 4 patches so far and it stil runs like shit i cant even complete the game. so system reqs & refunding REALLY are not enough honestly
Besides do you really believe the whole PIRACY IS BAD HURR DURR MUH MONEY IS LOST! argument? honestly thats pretty stupid . whoever wants your game will buy it if its good, adding DRM on top of it wont make people that NEVER wanted to buy the game in first place you know..actually buy it
Removing guns completely would be really silly. Like, they give you the option to not use them in the first place now... so why get rid of a different play style that other people would prefer? They would cut their sales in half doing this.
I don't mind their being a stealth option, that's totally cool... but I like to balance action + stealth in my playthroughs to keep stuff interesting. Mirrors edge catalyst completely removing guns made me not purchase it for full price. I get that a lot of people didn't like them in the first game, (For a reason I'm not sure about) but it completely cut my interest in half for the game. I liked the option of wall riding + shooting a weapon at the same time, it was the most fun moment I had in the game. Catalyst had none of that...

I believe it, why else would companies do it? Besides, we have a right to protect our software from being pirated. The DRM is pretty non-intrusive anyway, aside from blocking out executable modding and easy archival.
Why should we allow black markets an easy way to bootleg and sell our games and profit off it?
You have the right to protect your software im not discussing that, im just sharing my opinion that personally it feels like a waste of resources & time, its certainly been proven that good games sell regardless of anything and bad & non innovative games simply dont sell

Well, like I said, the DRM takes about a day to implement. This is pretty much zero-effort for a game company.
Of course good games will sell (even without DRM), but that doesn't mean there's no impact on sales when people pirate. It's just kinda hard to gauge because we can't go back in time and release it without DRM to see the difference in numbers.

Because simply shooting people with guns is boring compared to the other options the game gives you. It'd be fine if they did it like Hitman and just made you really shit at combat.
Why don't you tell us about its performance on your product with or without the DRM added.
Why don't you tell us about its performance on your product with or without the DRM added.
I don't have the exact numbers on hand. Even if I did, it wouldn't be my call to just put them out there.
Last I checked it was a matter of 1~2 frames per second. Pretty much negligible.
Did it have any noticeable impact on the ram that you can remember?

I kinda wish they'd at least limit you to only carrying around handguns, it makes sense to be your weapon of choice if you're going to have a phone in your hands at all times and the "pull assault rifle out of your ass" annoys me to no end in games which claim to have elements of social stealth.
Sleeping dogs did something like that, you could pick up weapons but you could only holster pistols.
In fact I loved that the first mirror's edge had guns because they were so clumsy and situational to use, they didn't become your go-to method for killing everyone and you could either ignore them altogether or had to mix them up with melee attacks
Just wishful thinking, that'd be taking risks so that's not happening
Did it have any noticeable impact on the ram that you can remember?
No, not that I can remember. At the very least we did not have to adjust our "required RAM" min-spec.
As for RAM performance impacts, these would show up directly in the framerate. So nope for that one as well.
i'd have no problem with steam and drm if it weren't for shit like this

so in order to not have to endure the inevitably terrible russian localization i have to either get someone to gift it to me for double or triple the price, wait for russian to english patches with every update and deal with other shit or gamble and buy it on uplay where it doesn't even mention languages
hopefully it'll be a simple fix that persists like with r6:siege but this shit annoys me to no end

I honestly don't get why the industry doesn't just release the game with all languages in every region. Literally seems no downside to it, other than disk space (although one could make languages optionally downloadable).
