It seems like a lot of people are doing shit like this now- that is doing things that would make you think: [I]"Oh wow that would take forever to do, will he/she actually do it?!?!" *click*[/I]. It's annoying to me at least because they're not doing anything actually worthwhile. Think of it like this; 'Guy Reads Dictionary' over 100,000 views in one day. Now I know it has a lot to do with the crazy factor (as stated above), plus the amount of following these people had before hand. Now I'm not saying sitting in a chair for 7 hours reading a book of the English language isn't hard mentally and physically (becoming bored out of your mind + probably aching muscles), but the idea itself seems really pointless and basic. Additionally, there's probably only just a hand few of people who are gonna watch a decent amount of the video (because who the hell would want to watch a guy read the dictionary?) for verifying the legitimacy of his claim. So realistically, he spends seven hours reading the dictionary, 99.8% of the viewers watch only around 0.01% of the video. So he doesn't even have to put any additional effort into the video because [B]NO ONE WILL ACTUALLY WATCH IT[/B], but he still gets the views.
I'm totally open to listening to anyone's reason as to why they think this is a good video if any of you have one.

If it makes you feel better I'm pretty sure Youtube pays people based on how much of the video is watched, not view count.

Too bad if you don't use adblock, he makes you watch ads you can't skip. Probably to make up for the loss in 'percentage watched'
It's a good point I guess, I bet the average viewing time on this video is about 1-3 minutes, but I don't feel that has anything to do with the core quality of the vid itself. It's obviously not meant to be viewed as a normal video, but as a proof of the act, where you can jump to any timestamp to verify that he does indeed read the whole thing. It's more performance art than anything else, and I think that it has artistic value.
Also, he's a damn dirty liar, he didn't read the complete book. he gets to the word Nigger at 4:39:11 and he doesn't say it :v:
