this is a sequel to Planetscape: Torment, btw.
looks like an old school CRPG
we need a rebirth of those games not dumbing downs of it *glares at Shadowrun Returns*
i hope this has multiplayer!
Numenera eh? I've been watching a RollPlay series set in that franchise, with JP and his pals having make quite the mark on the world in their campaign. Also Pocket is such a charming scoundrel.
They probably won't end up snuck into the game as some sort of easter egg, but it'd be cool if they did.

Hey come on now, Shadowrun Returns was a damn fine game, Dragonfall even more so.
And hell yeah glad to see some gameplay of this, I'm familiar with Numenera's setting but not so familiar with Planescape: Torment, so this'll be interesting.
Backed this ages ago. Still can't read the title without thinking of "We're tormenting you~" from Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged. Hopefully this and Pillars of Eternity come out soon.
Oh man the song playing even sounds like something from the original. Particularly the main motif/theme of the game.

Art looks gorgeous so far, quite hyped for this. Planescape: Torment has one of the best stories in a video game ever, don't think any other RPGs as of recent came close to how good PS:T's writing is. The characters, the setting, the atmosphere, the dialog and everything about it was just wonderful. The combat was barebones but the game never really was about the combat, considering the fact you can get through the entire game spending 99% of the time negotiating with people, whereas combat was only rarely necessary. [sp]Even the final boss can be defeated through dialog.[/sp]

It was an -ok- game, it missed a LOT of the core aspects most CRPG fans wanted though
like MULTIPLAYER :'(

Wasteland 2 just came out. Try that.
oh shit that's out now?
I was passively watching its development but totally forgot about it, thanks for the heads up!
The entire art direction looks just like Planescape in HD, and I'm loving it.
Gotta' say that I'm really interested in the general theme of this game. I tend to have trouble getting through CRPGs, but I wouldn't be surprised if this one managed to hold my attention all the way through.
reminds me very much of fallout, gives me some good vibes
For those of you who don't know, Planescape torment is arguably one of, if not the best, RPGs of all time. In quite a few categories it's notably above legends like Deus Ex. It's almost inarguably the best written/deepest RPG of all time, and that's saying something.
If you like this style of game at all, where you are so drenched in immersion and background lore through interactions with the environment, and aren't hyped for this, you are doing it wrong.
Comparing PS:T to Deus Ex is silly though. That's like me saying "yeah i'd probably say Anachronox is a superior game to Knights of the Old Republic". Sure they're both RPGs but they exist in two very different RPG subtypes.

Planescape Torment is a solid game, and if you're a fan of CRPGs I suggest you give it a try. Growing up I was raised on Pool of Radiance, Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale and the likes, so I was never really into Torment, but even just giving it an hour of your time can make or break it for you.
Is PS:T closer to Baldur's Gate or Fallout in terms of gameplay? I really liked Fallout but BG was just pure zzz for me, I felt like I was getting to it's good parts but then it straight up refused to work and I lost my save.

The gameplay is literally the exact same as Baldurs Gate.
The gameplay isn't the reason anyone ever plays Planescape: Torment.

Actually it's turn-based not real-time-with-pause, in that regard it is more like Fallout than Baldur's Gate. But really it's more like Planescape than either.

it's not turn based beyond the vague d&d sense of the word turns
no one would say kotor is turn based and it's basically the exact same style of gameplay

It's turn based. It's what the kickstarter update I got told me.

planescape torment was released before kickstarter ever existed.

No, Tides of Numenera is turn-based. That's what I meant.

Re-read the post Elowin responded to. Thought the guy was asking about Tides, not Planescape...
