I'd expect that from a 16 y/o student but not from an adult
Meanwhile they still don't understand why the world hates Chinese Mainlander tourists
chinese tourists are always some of the worst
well if it makes anyone feel better, this place was in china so it wasn't much of an international accident but yeah dick move
Not excusing this dick move but why is that thing directly in range of the people? Just a bit weird that the railing stops there.
Not excusing this dick move but why is that thing directly in range of the people? I've been laughing for 15 minutes now and I can't stop. This poor stalagmite slowly formed over 10 million years and wasn't destroyed by an earthquake or some other natural event, but by some dick who then pointed at his crowning achievement.

Since the chemicals in your hands can irreparably damage the cave. There was lots of areas that you could touch the walls, and stalagmites, but afaik nobody really did knowing that it'd fuck up millions of years of progress. I'm sure this guy was instructed too, he's just a dumbass.
I'll be honest. I don't see the big deal. A stalagmite's a dime a dozen.
I'll be honest. I don't see the big deal. A stalagmite's a dime a dozen.
Stalagmites have feelings too
I'll be honest. I don't see the big deal. A stalagmite's a dime a dozen.
It's a retarded dick move no matter how you look at it tbh
I'll be honest. I don't see the big deal. A stalagmite's a dime a dozen.
Really? Show us your local stalagmite.
Really? Show us your local stalagmite.
gay chat thread is in general discussion
Kinda wish he broke his foot.
It's a retarded dick move no matter how you look at it tbh
Sure, but the magnitude of dick is being exaggerated. You make it sound like he killed an animal or something.
Really? Show us your local stalagmite.
Fuck. You got me. Still, it's a rock. A bigger deal may have been made if it was one of the larger, eye-grabbing ones but I doubt anyone would've cared if that particular stalagmite was knocked down by other means.

But I don't understand why people are calling him a dickhead for knocking over a rock.
because destroying valuable shit for a 3 second laugh with the boys is something a dickhead would do
Sure, you want to prevent it from happening again and you don't want it to escalate. But I don't understand why people are calling him a dickhead for knocking over a rock.
You're contradicting yourself in that post. The main point is that he's deliberately destroyed something that's been formed for millions of years and can't be replaced, a part of a tourist attraction on top of that

Who gains from doing this? It's just setting an example where it's just "if you don't think it looks nice kick fuck out of it". It's just not on really. (man i need to go to this gay chat in GD i think i might need it after that first statement)
because destroying valuable shit for a 3 second laugh with the boys is something a dickhead would do
How is it valuable? I just don't think very much was lost from doing it.

Get some class, seriously.

But I don't understand why people are calling him a dickhead for knocking over a rock.
I doubt it broke off cleanly and left a spot that's indistinguishable from the flat ground around it. It probably looks something like this: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/vYmQup9.jpg[/img_thumb] And if people like that asshole keep going to this place, it'll eventually look like this: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/dBMWfkB.png[/img_thumb] Every time you look at that spot, it'll stick out like a sore thumb and remind you of how shitty some people are. It's like going to an otherwise beautiful nature preserve littered with trash.
How is it valuable?
Research and tourism.
Except a piece of natural art which spent thousands of years growing naturally. Get some class, seriously.
You're talking to someone who lives in a state whose symbol was a rock formation. I got class. [editline]9th June 2017[/editline]
Research and tourism.
But how was this one particular stalagmite valuable? I doubt it was research, and its destruction probably brought more attention to the tourist attraction.
There's a bunch of really old, important headstones in a restored church where I grew up. They're all covered in candle wax because for some reason Chinese tourists like to just leave candles burning there....

Are you seriously advocating vandalism? It's not about how "valuable" that one piece of stalagmite is. Vandalism is simply unacceptable, especially considering how long it took for each of the individual stalagmite formed. Maybe stalagmite caves are common from where you live, but this certainly isn't the case within China. If everyone who goes into the cave and kicks down a piece of stalagmite, this cave would cease to exist in no time and there would be nothing left to see.
