So its coming up to Christmas and I know roughly how much I'm getting. With this budget in mind I'm wondering what I can get for this price. The only part I have right now is a monitor. [del]I'll be getting Windows 7 Pro from Software4Students.co.uk unless you can do the same "upgrade" trick with Windows 8(Install it invalidated, install on-top of it). That makes the OS £60[/del] The only restriction on the parts is that the case CANNOT be a HAF 912. I have one already and I want this one to be a bit diffrent. I was looking at an NZXT Vulcan but apparently they arn't that good. I'm planning on getting it from scan since thats the best place it seems but if its cheaper elsewhere note it as well. [editline]23/12/12[/editline] Noss gave me a Windows 8 code, so now I need everything but the OS and Monitor.
I still have a £15 Windows 8 code if you want it.
I still have a £15 Windows 8 code if you want it.
That would be fantastic! Thanks a bunch I missed the train on that one.
Sent you a PM
i'll give you my xbox because i am the frenchfries merry santa claws
So thanks to Noss's generosity I can beef the system up a bit. https://secure.scan.co.uk/aspnet/Shop/SavedBasket/Show.aspx?id=872556b24f814dda9e25b3a1f736ddf2 That's what I've got laid out currently, any improvements you guys can make?
Secondly, no point in a Z77 motherboard if you can't overclock that cpu as well as not having an aftermarket cooler.
Ivy Bridge is supported by default.
First of all, no point in the 3225 if you are going to have a dedicated graphics card. Secondly, no point in a Z77 motherboard if you can't overclock that cpu as well as not having an aftermarket cooler.
Z77 is the latest, its gonna be more expensive to get anything else.
z75 asrock pro3, i3 3220, then try to get a 7850 with the money saved. Could probably get something a bit cheaper for the case like a source 210, also cx 600m http://www.scan.co.uk/products/600w-corsair-cxm-builder-series-hybrid-modular-85-eff-80-plus-bronze-sli-crossfire-eps-12v-fan-atx is a tiny bit cheaper

Are you sure you want to go for a microATX build? I did originally and I really regretted it. [editline]23rd December 2012[/editline] http://www.scan.co.uk/products/cooler-master-storm-scout-mid-tower-black-gaming-case-with-side-window-carry-handle-w-o-psu-free-del is a good midtower, has a handle as well, and is about the same price as the vulcan. Would recommend getting a similarly priced ATX motherboard along with it.

I want to build one because it would be a lot more compact and waste less space but since you say you regretted it tell me why before I do the same mistake :v:.

When time came that I wanted to go for crossfire after getting a 1080p monitor so I'd get better performance, I ended up having to buy a new case, a new motherboard, and on top of all that the new graphics card. I spent maybe $120 on my microATX case/motherboard when I should have spent that small amount more to get a midtower and ATX motherboard to save a lot of money in the end. In your thread though, it seemed like you were getting some pretty beefy stuff anyways. I only regretted the small case because it started out as a low budget computer and once I got money to upgrade I had to spend more than I should have needed to, and in this situation, he's starting out with a relatively low budget. In my opinion, it's definitely worth it to keep out of microATX territory unless it's absolutely necessary, which 90% of the time it isn't.
Yep I'm sure. I've got VERY little space as it is.
Anything else? I'm gonna get it on boxing day so any changes need to be made today.

I guess I'll go with an ATX build with the Coolermaster HAF XB case since it has a lot of room and is very good for customization. Also, it's kinda cheap.
