• My computer randomly shuts off while playing games.

It doesn't matter what game I'm playing, but just recently, I'll be playing for about 5 minutes and then my computer will die. It just shuts off as thought I unplugged it from the wall. What do I do?
It only shuts off while you're playing games? Sounds like you've got some temperature problems.
It only shuts off while you're playing games? If I put my hand in there, it is somewhat cool. I can't really feel heat at all.
it's not the temps inside the case that matter, it's the temps of the parts themselves also sticking your hand on them is a really fucking dumb idea, if it's shutting off it could potentially be 100C+ so don't go trying that http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

I touch my RAM to check the temperatures when I'm overclocking it. I haven't left any flesh on the heat spreaders yet.
I touch my RAM to check the temperatures when I'm overclocking it. I haven't left any flesh on the heat spreaders yet.
Well I don't know shit about computer temps, is mine good or bad?
If those temps are idle your cpu is hot.
If those temps are idle your cpu is hot.
Fuck really? Because I have absolutely nothing running. Just firefox and steam.
your cpu is hot.
That's an understatement.
Then yes, dust out your cpu heatsink.
Then yes, dust out your cpu heatsink.
Umm how do I do that?
That's an understatement.
He probably hits around 80-85c in games which is pretty hot but it won't cause any damage.
Well this is just a recent problem. I've never had this happen before
Umm how do I do that?
Grab a can of compressed air and blast out any dust. [editline]01:55AM[/editline]
Well this is just a recent problem. I've never had this happen before
Dust builds up over time, it's just gotten bad enough that your computer is overheating.
Okay well let me shut it off and do so. I will post results later.
Make sure that the fans are being throttled correctly. When your system is under load, they should be loud enough to hear them from a few feet away.
Okay well let me shut it off and do so. I will post results later.
Do not vacuum your pc. Can you post a pic of your cpu usage history of about 2 minutes (task manager) and the temperatures. Maybe there is a program that is using alot of cpu. (aka that might not be an idle temp)
Well I dusted my stuff out and my temps are cut more than 1/2
