• Keyboard works in BIOS but not in boot selection screen

I've got a strange problem with my motherboard, Gigabyte P55-UD3R. My USB keyboard works fine on the POST screen, BIOS and Windows, but it doesn't work at all in the boot selection screen or GRUB (I dual boot). The mobo has a PS/2 port so I tried using a USB to PS/2 adapter, but then the keyboard wouldn't work at all, POST screen or GRUB. The BIOS has a USB Legacy Device option which I've tried both Enabled and Disabled, no difference. Has anyone else ran into this issue before, and if so how did you solve it?
Does a standard PS/2 keyboard work?
Yeah I have same issue it works with PS/2, but not USB. I have a logitech g11.
You have to enable USB keyboards in the BIOS. Look around for the option, it should be there somewhere.
Does a standard PS/2 keyboard work?
Don't know, if I can find one I'll test it.
You have to enable USB keyboards in the BIOS. It is enabled. Try the linux section since they may know more about grub. I did find this in google.: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub/+bug/60177
It's not a problem with GRUB, nothing between the POST screen and Windows recognizes the keyboard including the motherboard boot menu and the "start windows normally" screen you get after a crash. Also, is there a difference between the USB-PS/2 adapters for mice and keyboards besides the color? I've been using one that came with a mouse because I don't have the other kind.
Set it from PS2 to auto [editline]09:05PM[/editline] or halt on no errors
There's no entry anywhere in the BIOS for the PS/2 port. The more I think about it the more I'm convinced it's a bug in the BIOS, I'll email Gigabyte and see what they have to say about it.
I have the same problem with the same motherboard, a fix would be great if you find one.
it isn't a bug it is a setting just spend some time looking for keyboard mouse or ps2/usb controller
If your motherboard is Gigabyte, you can upgrade the BIOS and possibly enable that option. After I updated my Gigabyte motherboard's BIOS, I noticed that option. I'm not sure if it was there before, though.

And yeah for the time being I'll just pick up a cheap PS/2 keyboard.
If your motherboard is Gigabyte, you can upgrade the BIOS and possibly enable that option. Are you using a USB hub ? I've had this problem when using a hub, but without the hub it works fine for me.

For those with the same problem I got a response from Gigabyte today, they suggested updating to the latest BIOS (beta, stable but not feature complete). I did and that fixed the issue.
