At the place I work, we handle pensions, and me and some others were brought on to work on a scheme that we'd recently taken over from another company. It turns out, rather than set up the correct case for any returned mail (i.e. we don't know the member's address) the previous company had been marking people as DECEASED. You can imagine how hard it was to make a transfer quote for someone who was dead
