My favourite part of this story is the outrage from fellow right wing scamsters, who now insist that border control is a bad thing because they're not allowed in.
Good, honestly people like this shouldn't be allowed to roam around and spread their hatred.
They banned Lauren Southern for holding up a poster that said "Allah is Gay," because that's apparently "a threat to the fundamental interests of society." This is a load of shit. What's even more ridiculous is that she was held under the Section 7 Terrorist Detention act when she tried to cross the border, over calling Allah gay. That's fucking ridiculous. She said in an interview that even the border guards didn't actually think she was a terrorist. They apparently told her father that over the phone when they called him to tell him they had his daughter detained on suspicion of terrorism. Why the shit they're allowed to do that, despite acknowledging that it's a blatant lie, is beyond me.
There's also the fact that her only intent with coming here was to stir hatred and cause trouble, not just because of the sign.
Lauren Southern also illegally detained people fleeing conflict, shot a flare gun at one of their boats, is a white nationalist, attempted to fund a boat dedicated to hunting down and blocking refugee boats in a flagrant disregard for basic human decency and is all around a huge waste of air. Keep her out of this country, thanks.
Southern says she was questioned under the Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000, on her political views and her opinion on right-wing terrorism. She tells BBC Trending that she was refused entry on the grounds of her involvement "in the distribution of racist material in Luton". In February, the Canadian activist displayed flyers saying "Allah is a gay god" outside a restaurant in the town centre. So they detained Lauren Southern because they distributed these flyers? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237908/a06ac28f-f1c9-4f52-892a-8224334d4ef9/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237908/019bea62-5781-4f1e-aa5d-882276b51a7d/image.png Yaaa..... I am having a hard time imagining if this were a poster calling the Christian god gay they would be detained. Personally I think they need to get their priorities straight on border control and tackle possible domestic jihadis then detaining someone like Lauren Southern over this.
honestly the two girls who were a part of this only took on the label "Far-right" to attract dipshits to their instagram/twitter accounts.
Any maybe if they'd said any of that on the reason they banned her then they'd have some valid points. But they didn't. They banned her for calling Allah gay. A bunch of that is also biased hyperbole. I have heard nothing about the flare gun, she is not a white nationalist, and the refugee boats are blatantly illegal in the first place as they are human trafficking and illegal immigration.
First of all, the ISIS guys, despite being complete cunts and shitbags, are still British citizens and can't be deported or denied entry and secondly, the British police have had great success preventing Jihadi terrorist attacks post 7/7 and have constant eyes on possible suspects, the ONLY reason this is under threat is because of our scumbag right wing government constantly slashing them.
These happened within a month of each other, just last year: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester_Arena_bombing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_2017_London_Bridge_attack Not exactly what I'd call a "great job" of stopping attacks, but both attacks involved at least one British citizen as the attacker.
Like I said, up until that year we had almost ZERO jihadi terrorist attacks for ten years, that was until the police started getting their budget slashed to absolute shit despite them literally begging May not to.
I'm glad that the UK is keeping scumbags out
Meanwhile we elected one for our President... We ain't smart...
For real, austerity imposed by the Tories (to deal with their abominable management of the economy and to further strangle public services) has had severe impacts that have been steadily growing in how noticeable they are. Considering police forces around the country have been suffering cuts for close to a decade now, the fact it's taken this long for them to not prevent two attacks in relatively close proximity to one another is astounding. Honestly knowing how May and her cronies work, I wouldn't be surprised if making the police forces less effective as a proactive measure was planned to justify even more invasive snooping.
Lauren Southern is not a white supremacist. Being against illegal immigration does not make you a white supremacist.
No, but pushing white supremacist conspiracy theories (or even giving them the light of day tbh), does.
Can you provide a source for whatever this is and where she propagated it?
What makes you think authorities in the UK are standing around thinking "Wow we have hundreds of people who might be thinking about performing knife/gun/vehicle/bomb attacks but lets focus 100% of our resources on some alt-lite e-celeb and her posters". Not to mention what someone else already said, that you can't stop British citizens at arrival and deport them because they are, you know, citizens of the country. It's a lot easier to block someones entry when they come in legally and are rather infamous.
That's not the same as being a white nationalist.
That's why I said she wasn't one before describing what she is.
What the hell did they expect lol, not every country functions like the US Look at how big of a divide US already has with politically motivated speech hidden being protected under freedom of speech, its freedom of speech, not freedom from consequences.
Anybody espousing theories like the "great replacement" is 100%, undeniably a white supremacist. You can dress it up with whatever alternative language you want, but as soon as you start alleging that there's a secret plan to destroy the white race being enacted by our evil governments you've officially lost me.
Is this the same logic that brought us "Gas the kikes does not exclusively mean 'kill the jews'"?
I don't like Laura Southern's attention seeking but I think blocking entry to the country is a bit silly. Don't know the other people.
No I'm saying that saying she isn't a white nationalist doesn't really matter when the objective of the identitarian movements she is active in is virtually indistinguishable from those of avowed white nationalists. I was being sardonic
My mistake, though your phrasing throughout the thread is somewhat confusing, at least to me.
Its my bad I have trouble phrasing my thoughts sometimes and being on mobile doesn't help. To be clear, Lauren Southern is a bigoted piece of shit regardless of what exactly you want to call her and its difficult to sympathize with her not being allowed in the UK in light of her previous "activism"
"They're not white supremacists they just say and do and believe in all the same things as white supremacists"
I would hesitate to call Lauren Southern a white supremacist or even a white nationalist. She seems like a particularly reactionary kind of libertarian and nothing more, she takes issue with the EU, mass migration and multiculturalism, growth of government, and other social effects of globalization which build upon changes after the 60s. These are well within the scope of acceptable conservatism. Labeling her either of those two terms smacks of trying to narrow the scope of acceptable discussion by arbitrarily expanding the meaning of a label. It's saying you can't dissent on these issues and our worsening social ills without being some unspeakable evil. It's pretty symbolic of the problems with our polarized democracy, and ironically vindicates right wing feelings that diversity of people necessarily comes at the expense of pluralism of values. This is why classical liberals and libertarians take issue with political correctness. It's wrong to celebrate this.
