Glad it was the leg and not something worse, although there's still some vital arteries there too.
Anywhere in the body is worse really, but at least it wasn't fatal as one would put it.
In any case why in the world would you demonstrate let alone sell guns inside an apartment is beyond me.
Woah, wouldn't that be some shit though? Sitting there minding your own business beating it to minecraft porn and... boom your leg shot.
Do people not put the safety on guns anymore? Kinda like the teacher who shot a kid by accident.
more like "why the fuck is he selling a LOADED gun?"
Jeez I think I just let out an audible sigh when I heard it just hit his leg, which sucks and can still be deadly but the title made me think this was going to be a gun death thread.
Why the hell was it even loaded?
Cause apparently our country isn't stupid enough and we need to go deeper
Good thing the kid is okay.
Nevermind the safety (that should just be keeping your finger off the fucking trigger), the thing shouldn't even have been loaded if it was being sold.
It's like nobody reads the article.
"Harris is also facing drug possession and drug abuse charges. His court date is set for March 26." He was on drugs.
That's not an excuse.
I don't think he was implying that it was.
I didn't say it was? The dude was on drugs. The city this took place in has a drug problem according to the neighbors. Where there's a high quantity of substance use, there's usually a lot of stupid shit. Like handling loaded weapons you're trying to sell (likely illegally) in your apartment.
Getting shot in the leg can be pretty deadly, if the bullet hits your femoral artery you can bleed out very quickly.
A guy I used to know seemingly wasn't being very careful with his pistol in his home, and accidentally discharged the gun and it hit that artery.
He died from bleeding out before his family could get him to the hospital.
Fortunately that doesn't seem to be the case here.
Doesn't people know how guns work in the USA? If you have a magazine with bullets in it will shoot them if you fuck around with it.
Not to mention are people leaving their guns always on fire instead of using the safety? Or do people even know it exists.
Shit like this is easily so solved if you always always always clear your guns whenever your touch them. I keep my guns locked up, but still open the bolt and visually and physically inspect the chamber before doing anything with them, even if I'm 100% sure that they're unloaded. If you do that, you don't really need to work about them being on safe or fire (I tend to leave my guns on fire when in storage, since I don't want to leave the hammer springs under tension)
Also, there's no such things as gun "accidents". There's simply intentional actions, and negligent actions.
I believe accident just implies that there was no intention. In basics, semantics.
And negligence implies that they didn't take proper care to prevent an accident, and as I said, it's incredibly easy to prevent negligent discharges of firearms.
Ah, so he wasn't even legally allowed to own firearms. Big surprise.
Another idiot making legit gun owners look bad. Hope the kid will be ok
As if 'legit gun owners' need any help with that.
Take that back.
Remember to practice firearm safety, folks. Keep it unloaded, safety on, and all of that.
"Australian man wins retard of the year award"
shouldn't be allowed to even own a gun without at least a mandatory gun safety class.
This. I lost a friend in high school from "accidental discharge" of his cousin's gun but it was purely out of negligence that it was discharged in the first place.
Either way, he's not here anymore, so intent mattered for shit.
