https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/democrats-civil-war-2020-party-s-biggest-super-pac-won-n857106 WASHINGTON — Anticipating an unusually crowded Democratic presidential primary in 2020, the party's biggest super PAC is vowing to stay out of the race and focus on taking on President Donald Trump, beginning preparations now for an election more than two and half years away. The issue still roils the party and its activist wing in particular, after it was alleged that the Democratic National Committee put its finger on the scale for Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders in 2016. Sanders told NBC News last week he was disturbed to see the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee getting involved in a contested Democratic primary in Texas and he warned that it's got to stop.
The Democrats have two years to get their shit together. If they don't by 2020, then America deserves the GOP running things.
I don't see how all American's deserve to suffer just cause the Dems can't get their shit together. The Dems who are at fault would be the ones to deserve the GOP running things. Either way, Dems winning will first and foremost rely on grassroots and local candidates putting in their work, especially cause these are the midterms and we won't be relying on a central figure. And they've been doing pretty great so far, Alabama, Virginia, PA-18, etc. Anyone who wants to blame the Democrats should first look at themselves and see what they could've done. Local politics is how we win in 2018.
I was talking strictly for the presidency in my post, though I know I didn't explicitly say so.
Yeah I added a line when I realized you were probably mostly talking about 2020 where the party matter mores
While I definitely am disheartened to see this news to some extent, I'm kind of looking at is as a blessing in disguise. With a lack of funding from a major super PAC in the primary, one that also seems to continue the idea that focusing on trump's debauchery and depraved speech and mannerisms will dissuasive voters rather than actual policy these days, candidates are more likely to have to actually get out and get funding and publicity by campaigning and grassroots (or at least smaller PACs) funding. Also, while reading the article I didn't find much to disagree with in Cecil's points - the primaries aren't really the time to be blowing massive amounts of money both in terms of image and pragmatism. Clinton and the GOP spent so much time and energy distancing themselves from their opposition (both internal and external) that they lost both energy and money to Trump, who had knew he would get coverage from both his opponents and his rallies - where he could rally his base. Priorities also knows that ultimately whoever is picked is going to need the money most fighting the president, not the other guy who becomes almost instantly irrelevant after the primaries are over. Whoever wins gets the massive boost in money when they need it most - to get the orange out of the White House.
