So right now when you post/upload an image you only have two options: Directly embed the image or post a link.
People often upload large images and don't want them to just be a link so there should be an option to set images as thumbnails which expand or open a new tab to show the full image. This will cause some issues if people upload a fuck load of images and thumb them all but that should be a rare occurrence. Hell just make image /thumbnail spam ban-able.
A lot of OPs or posts where people link to projects use images as a preview and had the image itself as a link. So you could click the image and it takes you to whatever they linked. If it has to be clear that the image has a link on it maybe add a small link symbol onto a corner of the image.
Aside from breaking the formatting of old posts, which was expected, it's limiting on the functionality of images on the forums. It also just makes OPs look ugly, and no one wants ugly OPs.
Definitely. Not being able to thumb images is a downside to newpunch.

If you enter an image's url it should automatically embed. You can also drag an image directly into the post box (or click the upload icon) to upload files directly to Facepunch. Once an image is embedded in the post you can choose to make it a link instead.

Definitely agree thumbnails need to come back else I will feel too terribly guilty to even post certain pics.
Thumbs definitely need to be re-implemented, as well as having multiple embedded photos side-by-side/inline instead of each being on their own line.
