With its all-electric powertrain, Artisan Vehicles claims that the Z40 has “almost twice the peak horsepower of a comparable diesel machine and it generates only 1/8th the heat of its diesel equivalent” while producing zero poisonous diesel emissions.
Holy shit that's so futuristic looking
It looks like something out of an 80's sci-fi movie and i LOVE IT.
It looks like a toy from the photo tbh. And as I owned (and still do in some cases) many dump trucks and such from my childhood I'm all for giant toy trucks.
I thought the same thing, Its probably the angle combined with how clean it is.
Looks like something out of a Red Faction game haha that's awesome
It would be funny if they used them to haul coal.
hey i've been trying to find reference photos of futuristic heavy machinery, neat
A Chinese electric cargo ship is being used to transport coal
Awesome, this will certainly reduce health complications seen by miners from having to breath in diesel. Now if only those pickup trucks around me would follow...
I... don't know what you guys are all excited about. Just looks like any other dump truck to me; it's just not dirty yet.
Looks like it came from mirrors edge looking at dem flat surfaces.
I cannot wait till some insurgent group gets one of these, and goes Syrian Civil War/Mad Max on it. Would be a good laugh to say the least.
The biggest achievement here isn't that it's electric, but that it's a big step to improving shaft mine air quality.
It does look cleaner than an ICE dump truck for obvious reasons but I think the angles on it and the lack of things like vents and exhaust are elements that contribute to it looking "new" whether it's clean or not.
For a truck of this size, it's very low to the ground and elongated. The ones you usually see in mining operations are very tall and short, which is probably what gives this one it's futuristic feel. But yes, it does look somewhat like a construction-work dumptruck, not a mining-dumptruck.
I feel like the motors on the back aren't gonna last very long due to the sheer amount of weight on them combined with the torque.
As long as they have an appropriate cooling system I don't see what the problem would be?
Yeah, killing people is absolutely fucking hilarious
