Yeah, I'm a huge fan of his mangas but I watched the first three episodes of the anime and it just wasn't doing anything for me.

As soon as i saw studio deen mentioned in the video i feel like it explained it all. Deen ruins everything they get their hands on and its fucking awful.

Deen have been improving in recent years, they've had a bunch of good adaptations recently like Konosuba, but their lack of resources is always very evident in their projects (though in Konosuba, the janky animation worked in its favor, its slapstick comedy works even better with Deen's animation)

Deen can do good adaptations when they want to. Look at Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu, which is a masterpiece of a show.

I agree, that show was a pleasant joy to watch. It's such a shame that Deen's other works don't often match up to that same level of quality. After watching Rakugo Shinjuu I had hopes for the Junji Ito Collection but it seems we're back at square one.
