http://www.indiewire.com/2018/03/shia-labeouf-biopic-honey-boy-lucas-hedges-1201940748/ Loosely based on its subject’s life, the project is described by Variety as “the story of a child star attempting to mend his relationship with his law-breaking, alcohol-abusing father over the course of a decade.” Hedges, 21, is 10 years LaBeouf’s junior. He’s built an impressive resume throughout his young career, earning an Academy Award nomination for his performance in “Manchester by the Sea” and most recently appearing in “Lady Bird” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” both of which were nominated for Best Picture. "Loosely" Wonder if they will have a CTF scene.
This seems like a real Shia LaBeouf move.
That is a very Shia LaBeouf thing to do.
Personally I'd probably do the same if I were appearing in a movie about me at all. It feels kinda conceited to star as yourself in a movie about you, if you feel me.
He'll probably play some drunk dude getting arrested for a DUI in the background or something.
has any actor actually played themselves in a "story of their life" movie in a starring role? i can't think of anything offhand.
I wonder if it'll be like The Pursuit of Happiness where the actual guy that the movie is about briefly shows up in the background near the end of the movie.
Nick Cave sort of did in "20,000 Days on Earth". It's not a straight up documentary but it's based somewhat on a day in his life. I'm not sure if something like this would technically count tho. A therapist's questions and a visit to a voluminous archive propel a dramatization of a day in the life of musician and cultural icon Nick Cave.
Yeah, sounds like something he would do. Can't wait!
Audie Murphy played himself in To Hell and Back
not as himself, but you have both Arnold play himself and the character he plays in said movie appear both on screen on "last action hero". Also brendan Fraser plays both as brendan fraser and brendan fraser's stunt. he basically hates himself and ends punching himself(the actual brendan fraser in-movie) aswell for taking all the credit in the mummy movies.
Hedges looks more like Michael C Hall than LaBeouf.
He will be playing as his father.
Was definitely my first thought, definitely sounds like something he'd do
When I read the title I imagined something much less interesting than what's actually proposed. This could be very interesting - I'm glad to see Shia LaBeouf carry on this new direction of his career. It's interesting to see stuff like his get some media attention, even if it is more a result of his celebrity rather than its quality.
Audie actually had to tone down the script because some of the shit he did was so unbelievable they couldn't film it sincerely.
I think Shia gets too much shit sometimes, honestly. The dude's hilarious. http://www.thefader.com/2018/03/13/shia-labeouf-kanye-west-esquire-interview
What movie has Brendan Fraser punching himself because he plays both himself and his own stuntman that got jealous because he took all the credit from a different movie he actually made. I need to see this.
Hunter Thompson played a hallucination of himself in Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas.
Bonus points if he adds Rob Cantor's song as an after credits thing or subtly playing in some scene on a radio or something.
But it already said he wouldn’t be playing himself though??
Will they cover his latent cannibalism
It's a Looney Tunes movie but I don't remember the title
The trouble with playing yourself in a movie is that whatever event it's about is likely to have happened a decent amount of time in the past, so you'll look too old for the part. The real way to make sure you look the right age is to make a movie about the filming of that same movie.
What's CTF?
LaBeouf will star in the film, but not as himself — the actor will instead play his father,  second line of the article so we can confirm he's going to play his dad. i find this to be an interesting choice, and perhaps a therapeutic one.
Capture the flag, specifically referring to all those times that 4chan stole his political art project flag via internet detective skills.
