• Plastic cups or containers that don't get blurry.

I re-use see through plastic cups for simple purposes and after several usages they get blurrier than before. Are there any plastic cups out there that do not get blurry after continuous usage? Or is that only possible with glass?
I am literally not damaging them with anything, I just pour warm water and sometimes also cold water, maybe it just degrades because of temperature changes.
So should I just find a really thick really clear cup?
Perhaps it’s the same reason why car headlights fogs up as well, UV rays exposure. I might be wrong though.
It would be really cool to find a really thin plastic cup that at the same time is designed to be permanent, or something that is as see through as possible, but maybe that is just not really possible with plastic.
just polish them if you really need a clear cup, the same way you’d do with headlights
I am pretty sure the plastic itself gets messed up.
It's simply really useful for me to see in it clearly, such as if it's a color sensitive liquid, with a foggy cup it is a bit of a pain to do so.
Alright, thanks a ton!
Plastics engineer here. Blurry cups, are a sign of deteriorating plastics, you dont want to use that cup for drinking stuff out off anymore. If you cup gets blurry when you poor in hot water, it might be made from PLA. That stuff cannot stand heat at all. If you want to avoid scratches, try Acrylic cups, and avoid Polycarbonate, HDPE and PET. You dont want to re-use plastic drinking containers if its not needed btw. Plasticizes and other chemicals will always leak into the liquid, especially at temperature.
What about warm water?
Glass containers work great
PLA is designed to be compostable. So it will deteriorate at 60C in moist environments.
Guys thank you so much for saving my ass, I always had the awareness that plastic degraded but I had no idea that it potentially released hazardous chemicals while it was doing so, I will probably consider using glass cups instead. According to some articles it is pretty safe to use a disposable plastic cup once, but never more than once, otherwise there is always the risk of leaking CHEMICALS INTO THE WATER THAT TURNS THE FRIGGIN FROGS GAY. There seem to be plastics that are significantly safer to reuse than others, but glass kind of trumps all of it in terms of certainty.
