Those two things have come together to make for a special day one patch--which is not at all what you likely think. It's customary for games in this day and age to receive large updates on day one that add essential features or make big changes or fixes. Rare has decided to poke fun at that and leverage the fact that it has a game where eyepatches are en vogue. As pictured in the image below, shared on Reddit by user Darkwizard98, players can now acquire a Day One Patch--an eyepatch with the number 1 on it. It can be purchased for one coin from the General Clothing shop.
The games getting released in 81 minutes on my end and I cant wait. Had so much fun during the beta, gonna sink so many hours into this.
God I wish we got more cool pirate games like this. Pirates are just fun in general.
That does not look too bad
When's the patch that makes the game good going to come out??
You should maybe consider actually playing the game.
I did and it was incredibly boring and unrewarding. I felt more like a crate delivery service then a pirate
Aw, I like this. It's nice to see some developers consistently being quite humorous and in tune with their audience.
My friends and I go looking for fights everywhere we go, voyages are just directions. If your'e just doing voyages and hauling loot then yes you are basically UPS. The fun comes when you attack another galleon, make use of gunpowder barrels and covert tactics, just rip their booty from their hands and sell it yourself. THAT'S where I find my fun. Don't run away from fights, blow em a new hole!
Ah yes the pvp where we got so bored of grabbing chests we decided to hunt other players only to find out they infinitely respawn and it takes forever to sink a ship when you run out of canon balls. We quickly grew bored of that as well
I'm just happy the game is generally being received well. Kinda warms my heart to see Rare actually making games again, even if they probably aren't as good as their "golden years." Now I just wait for the inevitable Steam version 6-12 months from now. After the headaches that KI from the Windows Store caused me, I don't want to go through with that whole mess with the Xbox app again.
I hate when people do this. This isn't the Rare you remember, everyone who was ever a part of the Rare you remember is long gone.
I'm pretty sure a fair amount of developers from those old days are still there. I mean Robin Beanland is the one who did the soundtrack for the game, and he's been with Rare since DKC. Some of the old guard did leave to form Playtonic, and others stayed behind. And who's to say I was? I was merely just saying I was happy to see Rare making games again. Sea of Thieves may not stand as high as DKC or B-K for me, but that matters little due to the fact that the game is being received well. The devs, new and old, did an excellent job either way, and I congratulate them on finding success with their efforts.
Hey I liked paying $60 to play this game on release, oh wait I can't because the servers are down. It's okay, it's only Microsoft it's not like they have the biggest cloud servers on the fuckin planet or anything
The Rare I remember made Yooka-Laylee.
God forbid someone else finds fun where you don't.
Ay man spend money then find out I was right more power to you
What I'm actually going to do is form my own opinion and move on with my life without giving a damn about what you think because I'm no longer 12 years old. I highly suggest you try it out.
Imagine caring this much about whether or not other people dislike the same games you do.
It was a good game for me but unfortunately it was very broken (I have two screens and even in exclusive fullscreen my mouse would lose focus constantly and either activate the taskbar, the game's title bar, or the second monitor, making combat impossible), and the progression seemed limited (I get money to... buy more cosmetics? What's the point of that? The real fun is in the PvP but half the game is still getting gold to buy literally nothing so half the game is just boring for me.)
This game being both a Windows "App" and using Xbox Live makes it obnoxious to play. Microsoft ruined this.
Tbh this is miles less condescending and whiny than the last time I saw him arguing about a game, so I think we're getting off easy.
If you don't feel like spending £50 on a video game there's a 2 week free trial you can sign up for on the xbox store, which is also on windows 10. Just remember to turn off auto-renew so they don't jew you out.
