The decision makes it much more likely that the 2018 elections in Pennsylvania will take place using district lines considered to be more favorable to Democrats than the 2011 map that was thrown out

Watch them try and go through with that plan of impeaching judges because they ruled in support of the state constitution and not Republican election manipulation.

This is really great news. It's painful to know that our PA map was ever allowed to become so gerrymandered in the first place. The kind of dirty tactics that recent Republicans have been using in the last decade or so in the name of aquiring more power is just appalling. It's sad, because the Republican party used to almost kinda-sorta be "the good guys", and they've gone and become the Disney-villian-tier-evil guys. Kinda makes me wonder if Russia/other foreign entities have been utilizing Republicans for general anti-democratic actions for many years now. That would sure explain a hell of a lot.
One down, a dozen more to go.
Now if only all the other states with districts gerrymandered to hell and back could do the same we'd be in good shape.
Gerrymandering is the gift that keeps giving for the GOP.
As long as they won because people voted them in through an untampered voting process, that's fine.
Not trying to make a sweeping generalization here, but I feel like this is what separates (most) liberals from (most) conservatives. Whereas mainstream conservative ideology is built around the ends justifying the means, liberal thought as a worldview preaches adherence to principles, rather than factions.
One of many problems we as a country desperately need to address, but it's doubtful that meaningful political reform will ever come.
The last time democrats won more than 50% of the vote in PA republicans won 8 more seats.

That was with the old map, but they're still predicted to up 2-3 more even with dems having more than 50% of the votes. We'll see though.
Gerrymandering is so dumb.
The only other option for the PA GOP is to impeach the current court; but that requires political capital that the GOP just doesn't have anymore in PA.

So, according to the PA Republicans' logic, the judges should be able to appeal this move to the Supreme Court and then, I don't know, order the arrest of 75% of the Republicans sitting in the State House and State Senate, because apparently the state constitution doesn't matter (the judges' ruling against gerrymandering was strictly defined by the state constitution).
This is what happens when you disregard the law to win.
