Seagal recently resurfaced in an instantly viral Skype interview, calling in from Moscow to share his hatred of Colin Kaepernick and love of tiny spectacles with the English-speaking world. But anyone surprised Seagal might be a bad person doesn’t know anything about Seagal or Steven Seagal: Lawman, the actor’s reality TV take on law enforcement that was canceled then relocated to Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Maricopa County after a woman sued him “for allegedly trying to keep her as a ‘sex toy’ during filming, among other things,” as The Atlantic reported. Stories about Seagal's alleged sexual misconduct were shared publicly as early as 1998, when Jenny McCarthy told Movieline about her experience auditioning for Under Siege 2. But more recently, the floodgates against Seagal have opened, with multiple women coming forward. Portia de Rossi tweeted about the actor in November, writing, “My final audition for a Steven Seagal movie took place in his office. He told me how important it was to have chemistry off-screen as he sat me down and unzipped his leather pants.” In January, actress and former Bond girl Rachel Grant told the BBC that she was flown to Sofia, Bulgaria in 2002 to rehearse lines for a role in Out for a Kill. Grant, who recalled being excited to meet Seagal, said he asked her to take her top off, which she refused to do. Also in January, the LAPD reportedly began investigating a 2005 incident involving Seagal. The Wrap further detailed the accounts of two women, Regina Simons and Faviola Dadis. Simons, who said she was 18 when she was an extra in 1994’s On Deadly Ground, alleged that the actor raped her. “He took me into this room and then just closed the door and started kissing me,” she told The Wrap. “He then took my clothes off and before I knew it he was on top of me, raping me.” Dadis, who claimed that Seagal groped her during a 2002 audition, recently filed a report with the LAPD, as did Simons. Dadis and Simons appeared together in public for the first time on Monday during a press conference with attorney Lisa Bloom. Bloom, who appears to have rededicated herself to survivors after a brief but damning stint defending Harvey Weinstein, is representing Dadis and Simons pro bono.
At this point I wouldn't be upset if the entirety of Hollywood collapsed.
This isn't particularly surprising, stories about Seagal being a weirdo with women have been around for many years, alongside all sorts of damning shit from his first wife and co-workers.
Te blues legend, puppy killing, rights violating, alcoholic karate master is a rapist? Who could have thought? The guy that supports Putin undyingly and can waste Russia's top martial artists while drunk, is a creepy sex pervert? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
Seagal is an asshole, so if these allegations are true it would not surprise me the slightest.
You could tell Seagal was a shitty person just from his terrible attitude from several accounts from behind the scenes interviews. Not really surprised.
Of all the celebrities to be accused this is the one that surprises me least. He just oozes shitbag.
Travolta when?
Can we just place every single Hollywood star under ruthless scrutiny and sexual offense related investigation to get this bullshit over with quickly? Or would there be none of them left after that?
Why do so many of these stars commit rape? Why is it that hard to not stick your dick in people that don't want you to?
It's definitely kind of bewildering, why is it so difficult to be famous and not retarded at the same time?
But hasn't he defected to Russia now or something? I have no idea what his situation is these days but if he's a Russian citizen now, I really doubt anything will get done about it
A lot of it comes from the power trip that rape can give people.
It seems unfair to put people who haven't been accused of a crime under greater scrutiny than others simply because they're famous. We just need to continue taking these allegations seriously, keep investigating claims of sexual assault and victims need to be protected from any possible repurcussions from speaking out so they continue to do so.
Hollywood - much like many other places in our society - is a place that thrives on power dynamics. When your job, role, connections, or even your ability to exist in the industry are at stake at every audition or shoot, slimy scumbags are going to use and manipulate that to get what they want. Rape isn't all about force, it's about coercion and manipulation too.
I mean it kind of starts to look suspicious as if it't practically a part of culture there. So having some kind of a mass investigative operation would not hurt by this point. Because if we figure out that Hollywood is inherently universally or mostly corrupt we could always just wreck the place and maybe then have movies in theaters on the big screen again that are not retarded and made exclusively for income.
Its not illegal to remove thetans from boy butts if youre in a private jet over International waters.
I like to think that humans weren't made for fame evolutionary speaking and it just messes with their brains. Then again, there are plenty of famous people who are (or at least seem to be) very decent people. Although it's true that you never really know.
The concept of status shows up in every corner of the animal kingdom. Primates & humans have a slightly more social version of it, but all the same it's definetely an evolutionary invention. The higher your status, the more "desirable" you are.
Good point, heard leaders are "celebrities" in a way.
Or, in some instances, celebrities are leaders...
wait WHAT
Those scandals popping here and there have pretty much become a giant, horrible game of bingo at this point. I'm nonetheless very happy that victims can finally find the courage to speak out, we're entering a new era.
John Travolta has a private jet he flies, hes a scientologist, and has been spotted hitting on young men at the gym at 3 in the morning.
Not only that, but there’s a long standing rumor that he and Tom Cruise both joined Scientology because they have enough pull to keep reports of their own homosexuality hidden from the mainstream media.
Geez, you'd think this wouldn't be that big of a deal that you joined a cult to hide it
Segal is a fat loser
bout damn time tbh
A cult with a lot of lawyers that’s not afraid to go into litigation and win. Plus, this would have been in the 80s when coming out would have been akin to career suicide.
Oh, right. Totally forgot about that. Amazing how much has changed since then. Although then again, it has almost been 40 years.
