Let us talk about "big woop" Perception - What's the intended meaning of it? Because I perceive it to be a sarcastic remark - Like in the 90s where people would say "big wow" Intention - What was the garrys intention behind this? Was it like in gmod and rust? Where new features are added to assist the creation of "emergent behaviour"
It's the new "dumb"
It's the new why reply
See, nobody knows what it means, that sort of inconsistency and confusion hinders communication. We don't understand one another. When I rate you I want it to be an information conduit, I want you to gaze into your screen and understand exactly what I mean, what my intentions are and what I am thinking about your post - by extension what I think of you.
I'm some what suprised we have a child molestor rating. But okay I guess...
yeah this is the new "dumb". OFFICIAL RESPONSE HERE BTW
At least calling someone a child molester is an obviously negative expression of feedback. Big whoop could be anything. I could rate a pro poster "big woop" for like "*toot*🎉you the fukin man🎉" and they could receive it thinking I'm calling them dumb and consequently they change their behaviour, that posting habit I deemed quality and personally endorsed with a "big woop" might be quelled, never to be seen again. How is that anything but tragic?
I personally interpret it as "big woop". Like when someone posts something that I deem irrelevant.
but its a balloon
And "dumb" was a box.
At least that clears it up that its a negative rating. If yall think it means "irrelevant" but the mods state its the new "dumb" then there is a still a communication issue.
how is saying “big whoop” in any way like saying something is dumb?
because adults dont carry a ballon like a child, if they do they are dumb.
We already got milk bottle for calling people immature If people are using it as boring/irrelevant then maybe have an explicit "boring" rating instead of an ambiguous "dumb/irrelevant/immature/balloon" rolled into one.
I thought it meant "really, who gives a shit".
That makes this entire thread unfortunately ironic
I like the big woop raiting. There are perfect posts to have it tucked away for. If anything maybe change what text is attached to it. Its clear a lot of people don't get it as I saw someone else confused with it the other day.
Yeah, the way I understand it is that it's meant to be used when someone makes a big deal out of nothing or overreacts. As in "big fucking deal/whoop dee fuckin doo"
I got a cool story for you bro: I said big wow in the 90s and I musta got it from somewhere
It's useful for "why is this even news" threads on SH and news node.
I thought its meaning was clear, but they could just change its name to "Who Cares?" or "So What?"
excuse me
Honest question - can garry merge Child Molester, Baby, Asshole and Big Woop back to Dumb?
Was big woop for me in the UK.
I like it. It's a way to dismiss someone without being too rude.
its literally "big deal"
I like it TBH. It's a bit less hostile and attacking than "Dumb x 1" (so we'll probably see less crybabies crying about being rated dumb) and fits in with the rest of the ratings. Would love to see "useful" come back as well as "informative". and smarked.
just like the inventor of the GIF saying it's pronounced with a soft G you're wronG
Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion Script [ Michele ] OH, PROOF ? YOU WANT PROOF ? OKAY, FINE. WHO LOST THEIR VIRGINITY FIRST ? [ Romy ] OH, BIG WOW ! WITH YOUR COUSIN BARRY... I WOULDN'T BRAG ABOUT IT. [ Michele ] OKAY, SO WHO ALWAYS GETS ASKED TO DANCE FIRST WHEN WE GO TO CLUBS, HUH ? NO WONDER YOU COULDN'T FIND US BOYFRIENDS, ROMY. Big Wow is definitely less cool than Big Whoop but here is proof that someone, in the 90s, said "big wow" []
lucky is a good substitute
