Maybe if your party hadn't lined up rank and file behind a crybaby authoritarian ya'll wouldn't be having this problem.
Yeah get ready for the Republican party to become a magnet for every rich asshole that wants to become president.
Wasn't this the dude who John Oliver fucking murdered?
It's like when Obama annihilated Trump at the Correspondents dinner years ago about never becoming president, it created a monster.
By that logic, this guy will become a conservative TV show host to exact revenge on Oliver.
Good Lord, we don't need any more conservative talking heads.
Maybe if your party hadn't flirted with the extreme right wing you wouldn't have been hijacked by them you dumb pricks.
maybe organized labor will finally stop shooting itself in the foot by voting conservative when the candidate has the blood of union minors on his hands.
I mean if they'll vote for Roy Moore...
It’s a different guy, but both are notorious for getting their employees killed. IIRC Blankenship’s company had over one thousand safety violations in the few years leading up to his miners’ deaths and then blamed everyone else for it despite the obvious.
Basically this guy is just another tumor.
Why is there more than one of these fucking guys?
Organized labor don't generally vote republican? The working class do, I think that's what you meant.
And who makes up the majority of organized labor if not the working class?
Union membership has nosedived since the 50s so I don't think most of the working class is involved in organized labor.
Whether or not most of the working class are union has no bearing on whether or not most of the union is working class.
One of the things I noticed is that company owners for jobs like coal mining like to force their workers to go to unpaid rallies and shit and sometimes intimidate workers in to voting in line with the company.
Kinda hard for some employment groups to become unionized to begin with. Walmart, for example, does everything within their power to get in the way of their employees unionizing. (To the point of even encouraging high turnover rates to drive all but the most apathetic/desperate employees away so they have no drive to unionize.)
I guess he figured that since Oliver was so nice to advertise what makes him such a great candidate that he would have a shot.
Same at Kroger, they bitch about how because they have never laid anyone off we don't need unions. Well I tell you the way the fucking company operates a union would be a huge step up. I swear they hire the most fucking incompetent managers.
Our day crew likes to leave the order pickers and reach trucks uncharged and halfway across the store, then bitched about having to put the equipment on the chargers before they leave for the day. It wasn't until recently until they started doing shit other than gossip and stand around (during store ours no less) since we got a new store manager who actually listens to night crew's complaints.
They don't even bother to leave us anything after their celebration things they have.
I've told my manager, and several other managers (working up the ladder, as instructed, like the good little automaton I am) that people kept leaving shit in my way, meaning I had to take more time to move the lawn-and-garden stuff (you know what I mean, it's THAT time of year again, except we're a small store in a Bumshart town and they keep sending us stuff like we're a BIG store, so stock room is always an issue), and as I progressed up the "file a complaint" ladder, I noticed that depending on the pallets I get, determines the area that I'm most likely to go to, whether it's mowers, chemicals, whatever. And it seems whatever I have the MOST of, is the aisle they put all their stuff in my way.
It's a conspiracy to drive me to drink, I tells you!
I work at a union business (a store under Kroger's ownership) and I've honestly had nothing but excellent experiences so far there with my coworkers.
Seems like unionized labor might be worthwhile to encourage, no...?
(and no, they didn't force me to join their union or anything like that)
Good. I hope these assholes stay afraid for a very long time. That they fear us just as much as they want us to fear them.
A cynical part of me worries that the Blue Flood or whatever they're calling it is purely reactionary in nature and won't lead to anything significant and lasting. But I'm wrong on a constant basis so let's see! and also vote
