What the fuck, I was looking forward to this so much.
where it will play alongside Sherlock Gnomes and Pacific Rim: Uprising What a wonderful weekend for films
Is this real? Their source links to a broken page and I cannot find this reported anywhere else.
cheers fox, might've gone to the cinema for the first time in years, but now i have legit no reason to
Fuck off, Fox, I was seriously looking forward to this.
No, no, no, no. I refuse to believe this. What kind of a bullshit business decision would that be? I.. I will be heartbroken if this turns out true.
Stupid decision, it had promise and makes no sense that it got hit hard like that and getting limited showings.
Okay, so it looks like they meant to post a link to this page. This shows 27 screenings, however there is no other announcement I can find being reported from other news outlets. I'm somewhat skeptical of this still.
Here's the fixed link
Aw man. I was super looking forward to this. Honestly this is how you get people to end up looking for illegal ways to watch films. Hopefully it'll still get a DVD or Digital release.
It’ll definitely get a home release. Criterion has been doing editions of all his movies, so I doubt they’d let one of his fall by the wayside.
are you fucking joking.. this was one of the very few mainstream releases worth looking forward to.
oh so thats why when i was looking up times last night the only screen was on april 14th at 11 am half way across the city
Any other sources? The one in the OP's article goes to a dead link
Just speaking anecdotally here, but when I was looking for times, the only one within 100 miles from me is a week after release. After that it's 350+ miles, so there might be some truth to this unfortunately.
That's pretty fucking lame. Luckily my main theater I go to has it but still. But, I can't seem to find any other news site conforming this. Perhaps they're delaying it for a bit longer so it won't be competing as hard.
This was one of the few movies I was legitimately looking forward to seeing at the movies too. Sad.
Gotta make room for endless trash.

Who would win in a fight: Amazing cast from the director that has bagged numerous best picture and best writing Oscars vs. some old people that think we'd rather see Sherlock Gnomes.
in the article UPDATE: Isle of Dogs is getting a wide release in the coming weeksSomeone working with Fox Searchlight on Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs has confirmed that despite an earlier story we posted, the film will be getting a wide release. Like many independent, art-house, or foreign films, Isle of Dogs will open on a limited number of screens before going wide in later weeks. Beginning this weekend, the film will be at 27 theatres in 6 markets. In the following weeks that number will ramp up to approximately 1,500 theatres in 100 markets. Animated Views apologies for any confusion. http://animatedviews.com/2018/update-isle-of-dogs-is-getting-a-wide-release-in-the-coming-weeks/
Okay, so that makes two movies that I was looking forward to that studios are trying to kill. At least I got to see Annihilation in theaters. There's a big cardboard display for Isle of Dogs at all my local theaters and I saw the trailer before almost every movie I've seen recently. Not to mention that there's been a special "turn off your phone" PSA starring characters of the film that's played at the last 3 films I've seen. There's a lot of advertising for it and everyone I know wants to see it. ?????????
Well, was heavily looking forward to seeing this! Fucking bullshit, the only theater anywhere near me is about an hour and a half away, sold out...
It's getting a wide release a few weeks later.
well, the execs at fox sure wanted to make sure it would not clash agaisnt such a memorable movie like sherlock gnome.
It definitely is real, are you fucking kidding me. I was looking forward to this so much. No place anywhere even near me is playing it.
well i just saw this in the cinema and it was damn good.
Thank fuck, might want to update OP
I'm almost wondering if this wasn't an attempt at a 4-D chess kind of maneuver on Fox's part. You've got it going up against Pacific Rim and Sherlock Gnomes, more movies with mainstream appeal, plus you've got Black Panther, A Wrinkle in Time, and Tomb Raider still in theaters. Quality aside, you've only gotta look at how well something like Kubo performed at the box office to see how mainstream audiences feel about quirky low-concept stop-motion films. Infuriating as this move is, we're all talking way more about Isle of Dogs than we are about any of those other movies; there's no such thing as bad publicity, and now Fox gets a good idea of how far out of their way people are willing to go to see it. This'd be a smart move if we weren't getting Ready Player One next weekend (followed by Rampage and fucking Infinity War before we know it), so really it just kind of looks like they fucked themselves over with this hardcore. I wanted to see it, but the nearest theater to me is in Philly; I went a little out of my way to see The Disaster Artist because I figured it'd be fun with a crowd, but I'm not driving into the city to watch something that'll look just as good (if not better) on my TV in a few months. No idea why they didn't either put it out in Fuck You It's January or wait until September when literally nothing is coming out that would have challenged it.
