If I go to church without money it's either because I'm broke or don't want to donate.
This is going to be heavily abused because people won't say no because they don't want to be embarrassed/whatever in front of everyone.
I've always viewed it as like tipping a waitress in a restaurant. It's the social norm, and if you don't want to do it, don't go to it.
There have been a few times I've forgotten money for donation at my church, however, and no one batted an eye.
Yeah but now you have no excuse.
The tray comes to you, you pass it along, no one bats an eye, and church continues.
I don't see what the big deal is; if you're that worried about the social pressure of giving money on a donation tray at church, you're going for the wrong reasons.
