I'm voting for the one dipshit who opposed the soda tax.
As an Illinoisan, they all pretty much suck just at varying degrees. The only person who I hope to God doesn't get in is Ives.
Biss and Chuy are pretty great candidates.
As a Illinois native, I can't understand why people want more government. Fucking terrible state, Chicago especially.
If you are in Cook, there is a question about legalization of marijuana Also, go vote https://vgy.me/0BIxzd.png
I early voted last week. The place was pretty crowded. I'm eager to see the results. Illinois also had something like 330,000 early voting ballots. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/early-voting-illinois-primary-exceeds-midterm-53858656
I voted today. Nice and easy and wasn't packed with people. The voting place was at a church practically walking distance from my house too. Had a bad first impression though when I pulled in to the parking lot and the first thing I saw was a Blue Lives Matter bumper sticker.
Going to go vote after work today. I'm gonna vote for Bliss. Not particularly a fan of the idea of JB Pritzker, a billionaire venture capitalist, being the governor of Illinois, despite his liberal leanings.
Hoping to see a victory for not Pritzker, preferably with Biss winning. However, with the split between Biss and Kennedy I'm not liking the odds on that. Also super interested to see what happens with the AG race for the Dems. It's a clusterfuck and I'm still not totally sure who I'd be okay with winning other than the one I voted for (if even that one). Anyways, the future is bleak and I guess I'm both happy and sad I'll be one of those many people leaving the state before the general election comes around, because damn Cook County and Chicago politics have really worn me down but this is my lifelong home and I want the best for it. P.S. Fuck Berrios too
Pray for Biss, cry if Pritzker, aka Blagojevich's butt-buddy, wins. If Rauner wins in the generals I will have no hope for this state.
1.25 hours until polls close!
Funny thing. JB came through the airport I work at and was an asshole to us for no reason. So I'd bet money on him being a poor but likely choice.
Here's your options for Illinois: dumbass republican or corrupt to all hell democrat
Biss getting BTFO'd right now. Kennedy and him appear to be splitting the vote. JB likely has it.
Illinois is like the king of "we've seen better days" Hope you guys can pull through whatever flies at ya.
This state is on life support right now. I'm surprised if it'll even exist by 2030, to be honest. Corruption and impotence is killing Illinois, and the choices we have for Governor are not helping in the slightest. Democrat or Republican, I just want someone who's not a fucking spineless, husk of a human; someone who is more concerned about his/her citizens than their own pockets would help so much.
I'm not from in state but from what I've read a large amount of your problem lies in the fact that your republican governor keeps rejecting a democrat budget and you haven't passed a budget in years.
that and the fact that we have a huge corruption issue, especially with our last governor. lots of funding and tax money going places it shouldn't be.
Pritzker doesn't seem too great, and Rauner is confirmed not great, so that's a tough one. Really hoping everybody back home in district 16 can finally get rid of Adam Kinzinger though.
Plutocrat vs a republican, great.
vs an illinois nazi who's guaranteed dead in the water past this point, but still letting that happen at all is fucking wild
Damn, I was really hoping for Biss.
whoops Former member of American Nazi Party Arthur Jones wins IL republ..
Nazi Party now has literal representation in American politics. What a timeline.
Primary isn't an election, he won't win the actual election. That place there is overly democrat for one, and another, hes a god damn actual neo-nazi, most people don't like nazis Also, he ran unopposed
Rep. Dan Lipinski fended off a primary challenge in IL-3 by two points. I usually hate purity tests and shit, but a guy who opposes abortion, LGBT rights, and Obamacare, and didn't endorse Obama in 2012 is really straining the definition of "Democrat" https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/mar/21/illinois-primary-election-anti-abortion-democrat-congressional-close-fight
I honestly just can't get over the fact that ~20,000 people voted for an actual real literal Nazi.
And also hate truly loyal Democrats think this guy would beat current Republican governor. https://theintercept.com/2018/03/20/pritzker-democratic-nomination-illinois-gubernatorial-race/
First I'm hearing of this guy but holy shit he has a 10-15 point poll lead so they may be right
