https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/white-house-defends-trump-s-very-good-putin-call-n858381?cid=sm_npd_nn_fb_ma Because "leader of the free world" is a bad joke right now.
the U.S. should not "get to dictate how other countries operate." Exqueeeeze me? There goes literally all of America's fucking foreign policy for the last 100 years down the drain lmao.
Add that to the list of 346534 things he's done that show he's a fuckwit
Irrelevant considering the context of modern US-Russia relations and Russia's now clear and present danger to global stability.
So is this textbook "but what about"? In case you haven't noticed Obama wasn't under FBI investigation for colluding with the Russian government to undermine US elections, among literally everything else. That's a small detail that kinda changes the tint of these two stories.
Of all the things I'd be worried about concerning Donald, this isn't even on that list. Of course the president has an obligation to call a newly elected leader; otherwise, you're committing a political faux pas.
https://twitter.com/ddale8/status/976161691527499777 Traditionally the new US President's first foreign visit is to Canada. Both George W and Trump disregarded this tradition. Worrying about committing a political faux pas towards Russia by not congratulating Putin on "winning" the election (implying it was a fair contest) is not worth the government's time when they've committed multiple faux pas against their closest neighbours in the last year. Do you think Trump would care about congratulating the incoming Mexican President if Mexico had elections tomorrow and the incumbent was knocked out? I'm guessing nah.
the leaked audio is slapping noises with "daddy putin" thrown around.
Even the usually spineless McCain said that the leader of the free world shouldn't congratulate a dictator for winning a sham election. Also you can't play the "this is what a president does" card here considering the "president" routinely insults people via social media and is doing his best to divide his own country in half.

Bush, Obama, and Hillary Clinton have all hinted various times that Putin isn't someone you get to like. Someone as consistently unlikable as Trump having no hint of disdain for Putin should be a blaring sign something is up, though it seems we continue to ignore other more obvious signs by a mile. Tweets like this: https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/869503804307275776?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Ffortune.com%2F2017%2F05%2F30%2Fdonald-trump-germany-angela-merkel%2F&tfw_site=FortuneMagazine are against our allies. He has no problem making them. He has no problem tweeting this, why not something against Putin, even if fake and an act to put off the accusations? Reminder of Snowden's tweet from another thread... https://twitter.com/Snowden/status/975410951494172672?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fthinkprogress.org%2Fmeet-the-latest-critic-of-russias-sham-election-edward-snowden-74cefd5f60a9%2F&tfw_creator=cjcmichel&tfw_site=thinkprogress Any person to congratulate something so obvious and so disgusting is quite hilariously out of touch. I'm not a fan of the Democratic Party by far and do typically sit with more moderate Republicans, but if this shit keeps up, I won't hand in a single ballot for a Republican on any level of the government to make them understand how much of a blunder this is. The way this reads has more to do with diplomacy than anything else. Consider the year and understand Obama was looking out for his second term in office just like any other President does and wanted to keep things calm. Also, there wasn't evidence of Putin influencing the 2008 Election. If we do want to get into something that points out the hypocrisy in our government, I bookmarked this ages back... Vladimir Putin polls better with Republicans than Obama does. Th.. This spits in the face of anything the Republican Party has said about the country having to stand with Trump. The party stands to do two things at the moment: Hold as many branches of the government at as many of the levels of the government as possible, and keep them at any cost. It seems we haven't found it's limit to that cost yet for the party overall. I didn't agree with some of Obama's policies but I was certainly much happier to have him as a President (and a competent one at that) over Putin or Trump. Traditionally when a government is in decent standing. Most of the United States populace regards Russia as a threat. If any allegations Putin "nudged" Obama in office, we'd have calls for his Impeachment. Trump disregards in every instance where Russia is brought up that they carried out any action to influence his win. Individuals like Nunes take that energy and use it for partisan play against the Democrats. If I had a relationship as half as tight as they have, it'd be a pretty fuckin good relationship.
Not surprising in the least. Trump's slobber had almost dried off Putin's dick from their last session.
https://twitter.com/washingtonpost/status/976236819502239745 President Trump did not follow specific warnings from his national security advisers when he congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin Tuesday on his reelection, including a section in his briefing materials in all-capital letters stating “DO NOT CONGRATULATE,” according to officials familiar with the call. Trump also chose not to heed talking points from aides instructing him to condemn Putin about the recent poisoning of a former Russian spy in the United Kingdom with a powerful nerve agent, a case that both the British and U.S. governments have blamed on Moscow. The president’s conversation with Putin, which Trump called a “very good call,” prompted fresh criticism of his muted tone toward one of the United States’s biggest geopolitical rivals amid the ongoing special counsel investigation into Russia’s election interference and the Trump campaign’s contacts with Russian officials. Although the Trump administration has taken a tougher stance toward Russia recently — including new sanctions last week on some entities for election meddling and cyber attacks — the president has declined to forcefully join London in denouncing Moscow for the poisoning of Sergie Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury this month. They remain critically ill. Fucking amazing.
christ if all caps instructions aren't working, what are they going to go to next? they're going to have to start doing educational comic strips for him
I hope they take his Twitter and cable TV away from him. Ground the fucking manchild. Take his Diet Coke button away from him. Tell him he can't go to Mar-a-Lago this weekend because he's fucking grounded for national security reasons. He can have an allowance if he's good next week and cleans up his desk before dinnertime.
He'd just spend it on the military
Seems the best way to get Trump to do anything is narrowed down between: 1) Suggest/Insist that he NOT do it at all, or 2) Suggest something terrible.
The best way to get him to do anything is tell him Obama did the exact opposite of what they want him to do.
But it's just been pointed out that Obama congratulated Putin's "victory" in the past as well... Tell Trump this immediately, maybe he'll lock up for the rest of his presidency trying to process this information.
I'd be happier if that were to happen to be honestly but fuck with the establishment that isn't happening for another 100 years
Geeze what a hypocrite that guy is.
Do we live in a fucking sitcom
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/976532956557737984 https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/976535330835836929 Unbelievable that this cunt not only has the fucking nerve to tweet this shit less than three weeks after America's "closest ally" was chemically attacked by Russia, but that he also does it only a month after spewing this fucking nonsense: https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/965943827931549696?lang=en
At this point almost goes without out saying, but god damn he is awful
If only his supporters actually looked at the facts.
His tweets begin to read more and more like a Russian puppet.
Cannot overstate how much of a transatlantic rift there is right now, today the US President defended Putin and said he "can help solve problems" while the UK Foreign Minister compared Putin to Adolf Hitler
There are so many dumb statements in these tweets that I cannot actually break them down and explain why they are dumb until garry implements proper quoting. I don't even know where to begin. How is congratulating an enemy who has attacked your countries infrastructure and troops "peace through strength"? How is Russia going to help in North Korea, where they are running around sanctions? How is Russia going to help in Syria, when they have contradicting policy goals in that region? How is Russia going to help with Ukraine, the country they fucked up in the first place? How is Russia going to help with Iran when they support the government we oppose? This is madness.
I think a lot of people are tired of his tweets... ...so I took to my bookmarks once again and found CNN. https://youtu.be/1B8CvtA2Uvw?t=1m46s The video from 1:46 to 1:53 is really enlightening. Any prior experience to back up that "conjecture" Mr. Trump? Thanks.
Wasn't "PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH" literally one of the mottos in 1984? It was something extremely close like "PEACE THROUGH WAR" or something I'm sure.
