Official description: Freeman: Guerrilla Warfare is set in a chaos filled world occupied by battling factions, bandits and warlords who seek to rule the world. The game is about your career as a faction leader: Start with minimal assets, you need to make money, build an army, wage wars against other factions and eliminate your rival forces with thoughtful strategies and fine marksmanship and eventually conquer the world. The game provides a completely different shooter experience which strikes a balance between intense first-person action and general strategy. The game's innovative combat system blends tactical FPS with real-time strategy, allowing you to command an army, plan for tactics in the God view, while immersing in the intense firefight as a foot soldier, in the first person perspective. It's basically single player Mount & Blade in a modern setting. You have an overview world map where you move your party throughout the map to trade / manage supplies. When your party gets into fights you are dropped down into a strategy map/fps where you personally lead whatever forces you've deployed. https://static.wixstatic.com/media/36e0da_9bdb02a28daf4b869d4dd13265dd1bcc~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_1440,h_810,al_c,q_90,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01/36e0da_9bdb02a28daf4b869d4dd13265dd1bcc~mv2.webp https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237011/3ed659dc-3a08-4ca6-86b4-c2ed77fde208/image.png https://static.wixstatic.com/media/36e0da_0149b03918f049de83c54eb17b5c2d31~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_814,h_429,al_c,q_90,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01/36e0da_0149b03918f049de83c54eb17b5c2d31~mv2.webp Gameplay: https://youtu.be/5Bd7Qh8ltGY https://youtu.be/-S9_8NeDjc8 Links: Steam page Currently $15 USD, £11.39 Pounds, €15 Euros Official Website Official Discord (Has an FAQ) The developers have been pounding out updates since it's release at the beginning of February so it'll be interesting to see where this game goes in the near future (I hear multiplayer is definitely on the menu in the future).
The sequel to mount and blade napoleonic wars we've always wanted? I kid. So is this a single player thing or what? I've never been the best at fps combat so getting to take control in a RTS way would be great but if it's against other people then no thanks...
Single player only, at least for now. No idea if they have future plans of adding multiplayer but I doubt they do since there are way better FPS games set in a modern era.
On their discord they have stated they want MP but it apparently will take a bit.
They should really change that title, it has some unfortunate implications...
It's the entire reason I even clicked the thread.
This looks pretty darn cool. I'm guessing they'll add combat vehicles to the game at some point, but what about stuff like helicopters? Will that be a thing as well?

Reminds me a lot of the DUWS mod for Arma 3. Which is great, honestly that always was my favorite part of Arma 3.
Next update was announced Looks like an overhaul of the character stats and a new world map. http://cdn.edgecast.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/31734425/36f304d965d560956da6e517bee251a5a15e04fe.jpg
Man this game is hard
Gets easier once you get a decent gun, some better squads, and some levels under your belt.
Yeah that is the hard part, when all you got is a shitty bolt action rifle that only kills one third of the time.
A scope helped me out a lot early game.
Looks really interesting like it might scratch an itch for me - is it worth picking up right now? I've seen some reviews saying it's collecting bugs along with features but if it's solidly playable overall then I'll try it out.
I can def. recommend it.
I went ahead and got it and it's pretty cool, pretty much exactly what I was expecting so thanks guys. But what's up with the scopes? They don't have any zoom and they're centered on odd parts of the screen. Chalk it up to early access?
Some zoom, some don't, SCAR is bugged weirdly. I'd say early access woes.
Bought it when it came out first day on early access while hyped. Read a bit, asked some hardball questions on discord and was very disappointed. After doing some extra research, I came across that this is actually just a failed kickstarter game that's reskinned in certain places - http://www.indiedb.com/games/freeman-star-edge . I'd wait this one out. Also the ammo naming is dumb as fuck.
I don't even see how this can live up to its name and have you really fight like guerrillas if it uses the same format as M&B, and simply puts you on an instanced map with the enemy army to fight a pitched battle of attrition, usually amounting to "do I have better and/or more units than the enemies and if not, can I make up for it?". The whole concept of guerrilla warfare is fighting against numerically and/or technologically superior forces, and using tactics and choosing targets that negate as many such advantages as possible. Without some really extensive gameplay systems, AI that can do more than "move towards enemies, shoot until we or they are dead", I don't see it working in the way that M&B still does despite these deficiencies. And then you've got the whole thing of combat vehicles, modern intelligence/surveillance, indirect fire weapons, aircraft, etc.
i fight like a gorilla
