Facepunch is currently lacking a proper poll system (it's on the roadmap though, yey🎉) so we have to make do with (ab)using the post rating system for now.
I've taken the choices from the previous poll HERE and compacted them a bit with feedback from other people.
This should cover all opinions that have been voiced so far. If choices are missing, things are wrong, choices are biased, please don't hesitate to mention that.
To clarify a few terms:
Explicit; fully visible lovemaking, penors, vagoos, uncovered boobies, ...
Suggestive; things like extremely short clothing, covered but very visible boobies, erect nipples under clothing, cameltoes, underboob, pantyshots ...

I'd be fine with explicit threads being allowed officially, but them being in a seperate board/subforum would satisfy everyone. The crowd who don't want to see it at all just have to not click the containment board. The people who want an SFW experience in public can also either ignore or flat out hide it in the settings (maybe? might be too much work add being able to hide a single board but w/e). And the degenerates people like me who want to see them will be perfectly happy that it's there without anyone else getting mad over it being visible.
A second post specifically for avatars should be posted as well for more concise results. I think suggestive avatars and backgrounds are fine, and that there should be NSFW threads clearly marked, but only in the fast threads/another new NSFW subforum. Can't exactly explain that with a rating for both thread opinion and avatar/background opinion at the same time on one post.

I'm ok with explicit threads TO A POINT. We can't have stupid challenge threads like "What turns you on" which just turn into a cesspit of posting really fucked up garbage. We don't need that shit here. Outside of 'hottest illustrated girls' going into creepy loli territory sometimes tho I've never had any issues with the other threads being around. Booting them to a subforum if we kept them might be good I guess but lol something about a PORN subforum just seems really fucking weird. idk.
I'm sorta fine with suggestive threads, personally. But porn/erotic backgrounds and avatars are really grating, honestly.
put everything 18+ in their own forum, and age lock it or put a gold membership requirement on it
It is pretty weird, but there's very much so a demand for such a thing. As suggested previously, having an opt in function to see the NSFW subforum at the bottom of the list or something like that would be a good way for people to keep engaging in the forum for another reason. It'd give a way to get to communicate and discuss another subject in a place they've already invested a decent amount of time in.
Talking about moreso an all encompassing NSFW subforum where people post, it doesn't need to be a porn subforum.
i'm fine with the ones that have existed for a while, hot girls and etc have never bothered anyone as far as i know. i keep forgetting they even exist. creating a whole porn subforum is a bit too much though
I'd prefer these threads to be in a NSFW subforum somewhere.. but the worry would be that a forum like that would encourage more hardcore stuff.
Either way, if we did have a subforum I'd probably make it so you could only get in if you're level 5+ or something.
There need to be an option for "well marked threads in their own subforum, and no suggestive avatars". That's where I stand on it all.
If people want to post about that stuff, let them have their own place for it. But I don't like suggestive stuff being dragged into other threads by way of their avatar/BG. I don't want to have to see some big titty anime girl next to every other post.

Just make a big sticky with rules stating that there can't be anything hardcore, illegal, or whatever. The current furry/anime porn thread has a pretty good set of rules.
Just call it something funny like "The NSFW Big Throbbing Dungeon" or something.
I'm going to repeat what I said prevously in, I think, the general discussion thread of the new forums. NSFW thread tag, a toggle option in your profile to turn on and off NSFW flagged threads. Thread is mistagged for some reason? Mods change the tag, now the thread is filtered.
I feel as if making a subforum may encourage people to create threads outside the general "Hot Girls"/"Hot Illustrated", which will inevitably turn into things we would need to perpetually purge.
Other than that, I think having a specific subforum for only two or three threads regardless of their content is a bit much.
There isn't even a well-rounded community in the porn threads like there are in other collections of similar threads, like say tv or movie threads.
The problem is that niche porn threads where only a couple people are involved won't get much oversight. If someone posts something illegal in a thread barely anyone is reading and no mod ever visits cause they think it's gross, it can take a while for it to be noticed and taken down.
The more centralized everything is the more oversight there is. I think a subforum could work, but you'd need new mods for it. Just dumping it on existing staff sounds like it'd end badly imho
Not sure I ever saw the point to be honest. There are way better sites for porn all over the web, no idea why we should shit this one up with mostly inactive threads.
If I want to jerk off I'll just go to pornhub or reddit or something. I mean, it doesn't really harm anyone by having well-marked NSFW threads, but I just can't personally see the appeal.

They've been pretty good at self regulating themselves though, the obvious exception was the "What Turns You On" disaster.
If a moderator is avoiding a thread because they aren't interested in the topic, they aren't doing a very good job of moderating in my opinion.
And even so, eventually we will get the report button back so if things don't get reported, moderators shouldn't have to fly through every thread and scan through to find bannable posts anyway.
Hottest Illustrated Girls is probably the best example - thread is for softcore, hardcore imagery has to be linked and not embedded
I don't mind threads like "what turns you on". To be honest I loved browsing it because it was equally horrifying and hilarious.
Regarding "creepy territory", I feel that anything should be allowed as long as it's not illegal. If for example, a lot of users in a "monstergirl thread" were bothered by the fact that a lot of "monsterboys" get posted, then it should be decided if those should belong in a different thread.

To prevent people posting shit that's too much, or they try to skirt the rules ("She's really 200 years old") I think the bans in a potential porn section should generally be harsher than in other sections, just so people get the idea the first time.
yeah but that's cause everyone is in the same thread and it's consistently active. Which means when someone posts some shit there's an immediate response.
like let's say we have a whole subforum with like "hot sexy babes" and "big sexy bears" or whatever
big muscly men are a lot more niche than women, and you might not get mods casually looking it over just cause it isn't their cup of tea. So if someone were to post some shit in there, the response time is going to be way slower.
if you want to make a new subforum, you'd need new mods. Like with Polidicks.

I actually wanted to post something more relevant regarding "creepy" stuff, but I got lost in thought. Like "lolis" in the "illustrated girls" thread. Though those can be a difficult matter since their legality is being debated more and more often.
