Hey lads,
I’ve had an iPhone 5C for around four years by now. However, it has become senile in its old age, so I wish to upgrade.
I want another iPhone, as I like using iOS. I don’t care if there are better, cheaper Androids; iOS is my personal preference.
The IPhone SE appears to be the cheapest iPhone out there at the moment. That’s fine though; all I ever use my current phone for is making and receiving calls, browsing Facebook, and streaming Spotify. That’s all that I need out of a phone.
Are iPhone SEs still worth it? Eg, do they run iOS 11 fine, and is there a good chance that they will be supported for iOS 12? I’ve also contemplated an iPhone 7, but I hate how the camera is extruded the way it is. They cost significantly more, too.
Cheers
I haven an iPhone SE, and it works great. The majority of the iPhones are basically the same, and with SE being the cheapest I would say it’s the best option for you. If you are planning on using your phone for gaming, however, I’d choose a newer model, as the SE can often crash and does not support bigger games, such as, dare I say it, Fortnite.
It's a great phone. Still snappy, runs the latest iOS perfectly, takes great photos, supports AR, has double the RAM of the 5c, and has Touch ID. As for iOS support, it's probably going all the way to iOS 13 or 14. You would be able to use your SE up until 2020/2021 at the latest I think, provided you don't mind a loss in performance due to the increase in processing power iOS 12/13 require. Considering how well the SE is handling iOS 11, I can't possibly see iOS 12/13 slowing it down too much, unless Apple either fucks up really badly or they add a lot of new features that require more background processes running.
I managed at least a hundred of these things at my last job. They're good phones, but unless you got trumpy hands the small screen will drive you nuts eventually.
Itll last you awhile, as long as you update the iOS as little as possible (basically rule of thumb for ios devices)
Might be worth waiting until next week, there will be an Apple event on the 29th.
It's an excellent phone. Same specs as my 6S but a way more pleasantly small screen that you can actually use one-handed. I'm constantly jealous of my BF's SE.
I bought one at the start of this year, is a fantastic phone, fast little guy, (it's actually faster than the 6s!) also the battery duration is awesome.
I would recommend it, it runs ios11 really fast and i think it will last until ios14
I got one last year, it's a very good workhorse phone.
Cheers lads
I’ll wait to see what happens at the upcoming Apple event. If an SE2 is announced, that might cause the price of SEs to drop. Or I might consider an SE2
Good phone but the screen is way too small IMHO. Moved on from it now.
Also make sure to get the higher storage model as you'll keep running out of space if you're like me and use quite a few apps and the camera regularly.
Such an unfortunate sentence to have to make.. but indeed.
Very much looking forward to a potential iPhone SE2 announcement. I'd wait for that
Isn't that the idea behind the SE? Unless you're asking for something between the SE and the non-Plus iPhone
I got an SE only a few months ago. I keep mine on iOS10 because I'm frankly scared of iOS11 and I hate some of the UI changes they made. Honestly if I could run iOS8 on this thing prior to them changing the Music app's layout I would.
This is coming from a guy who used a 3GS until early last year.
