This was the one thing that the brexit brigade had to sell us as a positive change, throwing off the oppressive red shackles of the EU bureaucracy and returning to the good old days of the mighty blue passport. But like everything with Brexit, it benefits everybody else but us.

I think that's being extremely optimistic. Trump sets a bad precedent for president and his term(s) will have long lasting effects. Brexit/Trump has two very clear us versus them sides but America's divide at the moment is far more toxic from an inwards perspective.

What makes me laugh is the fact that you can still get blue British passports as they are issued to refugees. Also pet and horse passports are also blue as are some of the temporary travel passports we issue. We could have changed the colour without crying about Brexit because we voluntarily changed to burgundy alongside many other EU members. Fun fact Croatia still uses blue passports and they never switched to burgundy.
