Cambridge Analytica misled MPs over work for Leave.EU, says ex-director Exclusive: Brittany Kaiser contradicts CEO, who told MPs the data firm did not work with Brexit campaign group https://www.theguardian.com/news/2018/mar/23/cambridge-analytica-misled-mps-over-work-for-leave-eu-says-ex-director-brittany-kaiser?CMP=share_btn_tw Cambridge Analytica conducted data research for one of the leading Brexit campaign groups and then misled the public and MPs over the work the company had undertaken, according to a former employee who has spoken to the Guardian. In an exclusive interview, Brittany Kaiser, Cambridge Analytica’s business development director until two weeks ago, said the work with Leave.EU involved analysis of data provided by Ukip. Emails and other documents, seen by the Guardian, show the company was worried about whether it could speak openly about the “interesting findings” and the origins of the data that had been analysed. It decided against doing so. Nix has repeatedly denied there was any involvement, telling MPs last month: “Let me be absolutely crystal clear about this. I do not know how many ways I can say this. We did not work for Leave.EU. We have not undertaken any paid or unpaid work for them, OK?” His testimony appears to be challenged by Kaiser, who was a senior employee at the company until she left following a contractual dispute earlier this month.
the alt right, making the world a much worser place because they can.
And yet in light of things like this, people will still defend the referendum and all the stupidity surrounding it. Nobody was misled at all, it's a totally sound decision, you're just mad! etc. Then whenever you point out some new instance of it all being a sham, they'll double down with increasingly irrational defenses of their own stupid decision. I personally know people like this, including one guy who thought Leave meant that "no more Poles would come in" and wanted "Britain for the British again" all because he got once mocked by some Poles at a corner shop, and who simultaneously thinks that it's good that the NHS would get that supposed budget increase from the Leave decision (which of course it was never going to get), but also hates it because transgender people can get their surgery through it.
This guy you mentioned clearly has the important issues in mind while casting his votes lmao Bloody hell, no wonder we are in this mess.
That's because they don't want to be wrong. That's embarrassing. They don't want to be embarrassed or to feel like they were duped so they just double down and declare they weren't duped and are proud of X.
I am very happy that all of this is being revealed, but I feel like (and I hope I'm wrong), that the majority of people will just forget about all of this in a few months, maybe even less, and this terrifies me.
