Too bad Rebels never got this good. Still kind of miffed that Savage Opress was relegated to a lackey after meeting Maul.

rebels was frustrating in that it had moments where you thought "oh man this is finally when it's going to be good". Then just never delivered

It had a few highlights, but in its four season run it always felt like a neutered version of The Clone Wars in just about every way. Which is a shame. Hopefully, if Dave Filoni and Co. work on another series, it will be more along the lines of The Clone Wars rather than Rebels.

So the reason for this is the fact that Lucas himself personally funded a lot of the episodes along side just a general budget increase. Like the reason Rebels had no-where near the quality was due the fact Disney wasn't going to let them run around with a near movie-level production for the series nor had Lucas dollars invested into each episode. In short Rebels was a product of budget constraints more than anything because doing GOOD CGI is expensive, for Rebels to pull off some damn good moments is pretty impressive seeing the competition with other shows that are CGI, Rebels stands alone in terms of quality overall.

Clone Wars was fucking dope. CG was odd in season 1 but by the third season shit got real and had some really ballsy moments. I thought Darth Maul was going to be shitty fanwank for people who watched The Phantom Menace, but he grew into a three dimensional character when they did the Maul-centric episodes. He was not blinded by vengeance like most Sith, but used his hatred as a goal to expand his reach, to fuel his ambition to ruin Obi-Wan Kenobi's life, and become a bestial adversary to any Jedi or rogue that got in his way.

Basically it's cut footage or language in one specific case, arcs go into each other more like a movie. So you'll mostly see some scenes that were cut due to time constraints, others are incomplete and some were cut for specific things IE seeing Pre-Vislza dead body after being kills, the Black Sun council's corpses falling over
