In the continuing saga of GOP lawmakers attempting to rewrite the rules as they fear losing ground like some kind of child on the playground making up new powers, it seems now they wish to just drop the pretense altogether and cheat democracy entirely.
Do they not see how dangerous this is if a Democrat were to get in office after them? Or do they just not care and hope to not "surrender the country" forever like I have a sinking feeling they plan to try. This is basically the culmination of all the voter suppression and gerrymandering bullshit they always pull, but as brazen and open as possible, they have dropped their veil. Also, I'm pretty sure this is massively illegal? Next time you get pulled over, just tell the officer that you are refusing the arrest and want to rewrite the speed limit to whatever you were traveling at, I'm sure it'll go very well.
They don't see how dangerous it is because they're too busy throwing a tantrum. "You can't win here! This is our state; our state!"
Wisconsin Republican Party v. State of Wisconsin when?
Remember this moment: the GOP is refusing to hold an election under the court-ordered and constitutionally mandated law of the land because they know that they won't win. They are literally refusing to cede power.
I hope they're all arrested and trialed, as anyone else would be who refuses to follow a court order.
Hold them in contempt of court and deny bail. Teach them that they are not above the law.
Remember, Wisconsin is where the governor killed off unions entirely against the will of the people. Corporations are more important than you, in WI.
constitutionally dubiousness asside, Walker's rationale makes no sense either. A representative isn't just there to cast a vote in and during the legislature, a representative is there to...represent....you... in various government functions outside of the legislature. One thing that comes to mind is when one is seeking admittance to a military academy you have to petition your congressional and state reps, and there's many more official government functions walker is withholding from the people of these districts by refusing such an order.
