Somewhere out there, an armed nutjob's dreams were just destroyed
I didn't know moonshine was an actual defined drink, I thought it was just a word for any homemade concoction with more alcohol in it than is safe.
Alcohol is safe in any proof, just in quantities. Moonshine is illegal because it's not taxed or regulated from the government. Tennessee now has a tourist boom thanks to them allowing some moonshine distilleries be able to set up shop. It's not bad either, mostly tastes like a stronger vodka with random flavors added in, it's really good for mixing.
Originally moonshine was used to describe bootleg hard alcohol. Because this bootleg alcohol was usually corn whiskey, it became synonymous with that specific drink, rather than illegal alcohol in general.
I can think of a few more things, but that's a good start
There is no such thing as legal moonshine, its called whiskey once it becomes legalized otherwise its just branding.
Source I live in hick central.
Technically, it is defined, as any distilled liquor that is made and sold outside the law.
So, by making it legal, you are by definition not making moonshine. The technical term for what theyre making here would be nuetral spirits.
@Duckmaster
Its been a while since i researched this, but in order to be called whiskey, doesnt it need to be aged in oak barrels? If i remember right, the alcohol industry is very strict on their definitions.
I have no fucking clue but all I know is my state is known for two things moonshining and Blue grass and they can take them from my cold dead hands.
