The tweet gathered 1,500 retweets and 2,900 likes and only after a few hours did Gab specify the fake animation was "obviously a parody/satire." The original animation is from a Teen Vogue story released March 23 featuring Gonzalez and other teen activists, as Allure & Teen Vogue communications director Jaime Ellyn Marsanico confirmed to CNN. It shows Gonzalez ripping a target poster, not the Constitution. Posting this here because I've heard people claim "protesters are ripping up the constitution" so I felt like there was a certain need to clarify the bullshit nature of the statement before any more sweeping generalizations based on doctored pictures are made. Hooray for ultra-conservative shit-stirrers running smear campaigns.
Despicable.
If you have to resort to smearing a teenager with a poorly-made photoshop because she wants to not have to fear being gunned down every day they she goes to school, you're the problem, not her. How the fuck did we get to the point where massacres of children became a major internal issue in a first world nation, let alone that nation being the United States?
Not only did they edit the image to make it look like she was tearing up the Constitution, they altered her skin tone and face to make her look more sinister, with dark shadows under her eyes and shit.
They say that children are the future. This goes to show that some true scumbags would prefer to remain the in present and are willing to do some seriously low stuff to keep it that way. I mean seriously, a smear campaign against a teenager who is against gun violence? ........... People pulling shit like this has me seriously dreading the world my nephew's are going to have to deal with.
I find really ironic how ultraconservatives keep talking shit on leftists/SJWs and their practices but then do the same kind of shit even more often. Making things up, ignoring/misinterpreting well known facts and straight out lying to spread fake outrages and pretend to be offended.
Im afraid this Girl's life is slowly becoming in danger.
Utterly pathetic.
If you have to consistently mislead people and spread lies about your opposition, chances are you don't have much of a real case going for your position.
Worth mentioning that the website which did this, Gab, notoriously pulls really shitty excuses around these stunts. Like they claimed their logo being a frog is absolutely not at all linked to Pepe, and that this here photoshop was clearly a joke and not at all meant to lie and misdirect anyone. They're kind of lying shitlords.
I'm sure shooting her down will help the pro-gun cause :v
Gun nuts, that's how. Or ammosexuals, if you're in a bit more of a comedic mood.
It's kind of amazing that Gab, a site that is meant to be a Twitter alternative where conservative views aren't suppressed, has its own Twitter account and uses it to express conservative views
Americans have such a bizarre obsession with their constitution
Just insidious and wrong. I disagree with a lot of this specific group of Parkland students, but that is completely wrong to do. They doctored it so well into a gif and a lot of damage will be done.
The gif looks like shit, the text is jumping around a lot.
Even if she did: so what? I thought these conservative ideologues were all about free speech and free expression.
Yeah but the deep state fake news shill campaigns are the real threat
Exactly, it's just a goddamn piece of paper. It's some weird fetishism, like with the flag and their troops. I'd pay money to never have to see anyone mention "I wuz in the US army" like it matters.
Nationalism is a bitch...
Nah, it's just about free speech so long as it's expressing opinions that they agree with. The people who complain about liberals and their trigger warnings are often the same people who get "triggered" by everything that slightly disagrees with their warped outlook on life, they just don't use the term.
Hell, being bothered by trigger warnings is literally being offended by something as harmless as content warnings.
Is /pol/ or t_d smearing Gonzalez or other Parkland survivors? Cambridge Analytica ought to be tried for mental harm if they kickstarted the echo chambers that led to normal folks becoming /pol/ or t_d fanatics.
Free speech only applies to the right kind of speech.
I don't want to go all "won't someone think of the children" but you gotta love how a large population of the United States cares more about guns then the safety of children to the point where they will try to ruin a child's life because that child doesn't want to be shot at school.
Remember these are probably the same people that lost their minds when footballers knelt during the anthem.
It's not an either or situation.
Even if she actually did do it, I'd say she has a pretty good reason to disagree with it. A majority of people in the US seem to think that the 2nd ammendment is relevant nowadays (The way I understand what it was created for). Even if suddenly some asshole took over the government, nobody is going to do anything about it. Sure, people in rural regions do need guns to hunt and such if that's how they make their living, but nobody in a suburb of NYC needs a gun. Tons of countries have SENSIBLE gun control and people don't get shot as often, whether accidentally or not. So this leaves me thinking, it's either the gun control being so incredibly loose, or it's the mental healthcare.
Imagine doing this to a young person and not realizing you're the bad guy
Rabidly defending the second amendment now takes priority over being a decent person. Remember everyone, true patriots express their love for America with frothing rage.
