Still salty from the MGS3 Pachinko with FOX Engine cutscenes.
Yeah shove it up your fucking ass. The SH HD collection was bad enough, there was no need to screw it even more.
Well, maybe on the bright side Konami will serve as a warning to others.
Silent Hill 1 & 2 will always have a special place in my heart.
3 was trash, 4 was a nice twist and felt like a SH game.
I'm scared to play any others, would anyone recommend?
Three is probably the best of the bunch, standing easily next to two. So if you like 4 you'll probably love the rest of them. Give the Vita game a spin.
Didn't they already do a Silent Hill pachinko machine recently?
3 had the worst dialogue, story environments and monsters out of the 4. I'm stunned you would say such a thing, especially considering SH2.
I guess we could hiss and spit about this like we did with the MGS pachinkos but if I'm completely honest, I'm not the least bit surprised by this. They're going to keep pulling shit like this all the time.
Konami used to be decent (or at least less shitty) in the 90's early 2000's. Contra, Castlevania, Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Bomberman, ZoE, Suikoden, Gradius, etc.
Now they've turned into complete garbage.
If you decide to playing Homecoming for some reason for the love of God do not play the PC port. I remember having to make a choice between buying that and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and I made the wrong fucking choice.
That said, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is pretty good. If you've got a Wii, I'd play it on there. It makes use of the Wii's aiming (that's how you control your flashlight) and low-quality built-into-controller speaker (which gives some extra eeriness) and it really shines on there compared to the other platforms.
Eh, 3 wasn't that bad. The mall level was pretty cool.
Literally all the had to do was not fire Kojima and cancel what was likely going to be the best Silent Hill game in years.
And then they did, ruining their reputation and any chance of being forgiven by fans of their two biggest franchises.
More than that. The fact they let their old IP's waste away, never to see the light of day.
We have a metroidvania section on steam. Where the fuck is Castlevania SOTN? The game that STARTED the metroidvania craze? What about Contra, or the older Metal Gear games?
The only "Good" thing I've EVER seen Konami do recently is let Cygames do a remake/remaster of sorts for ZoE2, which WILL be on PC. That, and give permission for Microsoft to put MGS:PW on the BC program.
Meanwhile we get pachinko machines.
They COULD port the MGS series, Castlevania, Contra, etc. to PC and modern systems and make loads of money but Konami is apparently allergic to good business decisions.
Not only that, but they unfucked Resident Evil's design philosophy after 6 was pretty much universally hated and began developing a remake of the second game, then announced a new Megaman, and if rumors are to be believed, Devil May Cry 5'll be happening eventually.
The only major sin they've committed was Dead Rising 4 but I can only hope they have the same RE-esque rebound where they go from "the worst game in the series" to "wow this is the best one in over a decade"
what the fuck am i reading
I hated the protagonist, she really didn't seem to have much awareness of how much of a fucked up situation she was in until, well, you know.
Just a whiny bitch really.
Yeah, I remember HIT THE LEVER!
shattered memories is my favorite in the series. I also quite enjoyed Downpour for what it was.
i also agree, SH3 is by far the worst in the series. Incredibly derivative and doesn’t bring much of anything new
3 had worse dialogue than 4 and 1? Really? 1 was stiffled as shit, and 4 is downright weird and filled with nonsense. While 3 isn't 2's level of quality, it's atmosphere is absolutely oppresive just as much as any other entry if not more, howeeeeeever...
The only game that really takes the cake in terms of dialogue is Silent Hill 2. Some of the scenes are downright haunting, the implications of that game are worse than the atmosphere of any other entry in the series, every single character is just downright broken to their cores.
but she's the least whiny of them all. to my recollection she's the only character to just straight-up make fun of a boss monster to their face. and then she starts doing stuff like pulling a gun on Claudia mid-speech. maybe she emotes more than the other SH player characters, but she still acts the coolest out of all of them
3 was garbage? Well to each their own I guess, but I think since SH3 was continuing the story of 1, not bringing much new was probably the absolute best thing it could have done.I didn't think the dialogue was that bad, not as good as 2 but it felt on par with 1 which was just fine.
Also 3 had the best intro theme of any silent hill ever.
The real question is tho if this machine their making will take you to silent hill if you lose
3 also had the best UFO ending, though 2's dog ending is still my favorite of the joke endings.
I'm torn apart between Room of Angels and You're not Here, but yeah, Heather is by far the best protag in SH. Despite every curveball is thrown at her, she just pushes forward until the end, and does what she's supposed to, without ever bitching about it, which only makes her display of grief on the end more impactful.
3 has really good voice acting for the time, especially for a survival horror game. Granted, it feels very mundane compared to the uneasy dialouge and voice acting of 2. 1 easily has the worst dialouge out of the original 4 games, it has that "English script as written by a Japanese team that doesn't fully grasp the language" kinda vibe to it that a lot of Japanese PS1 games that where written in English first despite not really having a localization budget had. Still, gave us gems like this.

Konami: Turning your childhood franchises into gambling machines since 2016.
The more I think about this the more pissed off I get.
Konami is the EA of the east.
At this point it's not even a case of "what if" but "when"
Doesn't make it less sad of a sight to see konami turn into this
