Shut up ya wrinkled Turkic Muppet...
France offers to mediate peace, Turkey says fuck off we're staying at war. How many reasons does Turkey have to shout to the world as to why they should be kicked out of NATO?
From what I gather, Macron is intent on making France some kind of world power again. He's calling for the people of the Congo to speak more French so that language won't be outpaced by the growth of English world-wide and he's trying to play peace-maker everywhere.
France is already a global player though? just what Also France is experiencing some "proper" growth again, after almost stagnating for several years.
I would say that they are a global player, but definitely not at the top by a long shot.
"“Those who enter into cooperation and solidarity with terror groups against Turkey ... will, like the terrorists, become a target of Turkey,” Bozdag, who is also the Turkish government spokesman, wrote on Twitter. “We hope France does not take such an irrational step.”" Considering that Turkey's method of dealing with terror groups is invasion, are they sure thats what they mean? I mean a Turkish invasion attempt of France would be an hilarious example of roast turkey but thats proper fucking stupid logic there
An attempted Turkish invasion of France would be simultaneously hilarious and terrible. Hilarious because just watch France invoke NATO's collective defense clause and suddenly basically all of Europe as well as the US and Canada are blockading them and fucking up their shit. Terrible because that's how world wars start and it'd be the pinnacle of human stupidity if we coated the planet's surface in Plutonium fallout because a Turkish dictator wanted to prove his dick size.
As much as they suck I'd rather have them with NATO than Russia for now. Right now there are no many hills for the west to die on, I'd rather we took it one hill at a time together
As an Englishman, I totally agree that the UK is not a global power, especially after Brexit. The people I've met who voted to leave the EU have this insanely delusional mindset that the EU is reliant on the UK more than we are on them, which is baffling and pretty much confirms them as idiots for the most part. Germany and Russia have a great deal more influence than France or the UK. Russia's economy sucks, but they unfortunately make their massive military and soft power techniques work for them. Germany, on the other hand, is essentially the leader of the EU due to having the most seats in the EU parliament, so they are presumably going to be setting the agenda for the EU over the next decades. France have more influence in this region than many might think, as areas of the Middle East used to be French colonies, along with the UK. I would agree that the USA is in a better position to negotiate peace, but America basically use the world as their play-thing, especially since Trump got into office, so I don't think a country that is increasingly looking more like a modern iteration of the British Empire is in a good moral position to negotiate peace. For these reasons, I am glad France is at least giving it a go. I don't like Macron much, and think his plans are clearly for selfish reasons, but I still see the benefits. The Kurds are arguably above Israel in being the best hope for a free, democratic, socially liberal and moral country in the Middle East, so anything to help them is good in my book. Turkey are fucking pricks, especially Erdogan, so anything he says is worth nothing in my opinion.
"If war keeps dragging, we'll keep having a great influence in the region. Turkey should be the only power in upper Middle East."
I didn't actually suggest that Russia or Germany were global powers, just that they have more influence than France and the UK. The reason I say that the Kurds are socially liberal, at least in the context of the Middle East, is that I have seen quite a lot of interviews with female soldiers who don't have to wear the Hijab. Yeah, it's not exactly socially liberal by Western standards, I admit, but it's a lot better than Palestine, and they've actually made a decent run at improving in the past when they're not being targeted by countries like Turkey. I think there's more evidence of the Kurds being reasonable than you give them credit for, but I admit that it's hard to say without me travelling there myself.
