Was seconds away from posting this myself, I find this to be a highly disturbing video which does a very good job at making a point Sinclair originally did not intend it to do.

Sinclair have absolutely no self awareness, they're projecting so hard they're visible through solid lead plates.
This is horrifying. I really don't have any other words for it. Local news stations are generally renowned for being at least somewhat fair and less biased than national news networks - and now we're seeing exactly why the monopolization of media is dangerous. We need to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine and trust-bust all forms of news media back into a million tiny fragments. This is a plain and transparent attempt to subtly push a narrative discrediting federal investigators and undermining the rule of law. This video needs to get millions and millions of views - the sad part is, most of the people who watch local TV will never see this.
You know that moment when something is so terrifying, you literally feel a chill crawling down your neck... This is one of those moments. We fucking Deus Ex now.
America is dying
John Oliver did a topic on Sinclair. This is soo corrupt it's legit terrifying that local news is being bought out just for this mega corporation to have them spew out their own written bias. My folks were local news consumers so this should be interesting on what they thing. I wonder; how far down does the rabbit hole go? How long has this been going on?
Part of me feels the old school TV news format needs to die already, it's a limited way to inform people and became cancer years ago.
This truly is one of the more terrifying things I have seen to come out of this administration. Thanks to Pai's FCC, his policies have allowed for media giants like Sinclair to gobble up a lot more than they used to - and should - own. It always bothers me because I don't see something like this changing anytime soon through any peaceful means, not with the administration we have in charge right now. But at the same time violence of any kind is frowned upon - but what can be done at this point? The only way I see for meaningful changes to be made is for people to put the pressure on in the right places. Marching and holding signs just doesnt seem enough any more. After all, "this is extremely dangerous to our democracy." The fact that this is happening in the first place just goes to show the restraints in place weren't enough, and that the wrong kind of people can easily change them.
The "This is extremely dangerous to our democracy" was legit a woke moment for me. I'm gonna be fucking sick.
This is a reason why crowd-funded news organizations, or "Grount-roots" news organizations should be created to curb the rising power of these politically driven "Local News Channel" monstrosities. I know a lot of people shit on Crowd-funded things in particular, but this seems to be the only way we can avoid small groups of power hungry individuals from bending the flow of information to benefit themselves.
Couldn't FOX, ABC, CBS and NBC pull their affiliation from Sinclair and give it to another station? Doesn't even have to be o&o, I know fox wouldn't do that
The news station I work at is three Sinclair-owned channels, and my coworkers and I filmed and edited these last week. One of them is in that collage at 0:55. I feel especially bad for our anchors, since NONE of them wanted to do this, they all knew what it was, but couldn't really do anything about it.
You should encourage them to get in contact with other local news stations and agree on a unified 'day of protest' where all of Sinclair's owned local stations give a 'behind the scenes' look at a segment given to them by Sinclair to demonstrate the news they're being forced to report.
anyone getting that old "tip of the iceberg" feeling? i'd love to know how deep THIS rabbit hole goes, and in how many directions it also seems alien to me personally, over here we have one big commercial news/entertainment channel that does news in a flashier style, and then some semi-state-owned stuff that reports in a very dry, matter-of-fact and to-the-point style living in a small country, i can't even begin to picture what it's like to have dozens upon dozens of LOCAL channels, and them all being under the direct control of some very politically and financially shady players
John Oliver's expose on Sinclair covers them specifically in very good detail, I don't know if anyone else has done something similar for other casters. I know that Newscorp and Tribune are two other media companies that own large amounts of "local" news networks in America. Tribune has been in talks to be bought out by Sinclair for some time now, mercifully they have yet to go through.
